Is Donald Trump Done for?

Which dates to 2005, sure, but @Sommerswerd is right - he's used this kind of language multiple times. Nice try singling out El_Machinae though, it's always easier to ignore the posts that are harder to refute ;)

The impossibility of directly defending so much of Trump's behavior causes some highly interesting tactics and psychological phenomena among the Republicans. My personal favorite is the "projection gambit," where they just go ahead and attack the Democrats for doing exactly what the Republicans are doing.

What "specific law" was Clinton impeached for?
Essentially, Republicans said "You make shady property deals!" and he said "Nope" and they said "Ok, but you did the sexytime!" and he said "Nuh uh!" and they said "Yeah huh!" and he said "Well it depends on what you mean by "sexytime", and they said "hibbity dibbity counts as sexytime" and he said "OK you got me" so they said "Ha! We catch you in lie! That's...
And then Impeached him for it.

Yeah, it was pretty dumb. I mean, everyone sorta knew he was a pos, and everyone knew he wasn't getting removed for it...

Without searching, do you actually know the subject on which the president was speaking, or the question he was answering, when he said he could do what he wanted?
William Barr has said it and it has become a talking point for Trumpettes. As far as Trump goes, he has shown by his actions that he thinks he can do whatever he wants without repercussions. He thinks that the constitution and rule of law doesn't apply to him.

Well, it was the classic case of investigating until you created a crime. The same would have happened with regards to Trump and obstruction of justice, if they had gone for it. But they didn't, maybe because Gingrich was truly awful?

@Tristan_C and he also said in a campaign rally that Article 2 of the constitution says he can do whatever he wants. His ongoing lying is evidence that he sees himself as above any rules.

You know who preferred to investigate until they created/found a crime? Ken Starr. And Alan Dershowitz despised him for it.

So far Trump, Lindsey Graham, Starr, and Dershowitz have all flipped around so hard it makes one literally wince to watch it. I need to go get balanced and find Pelosi and Schumer opposing the Clinton impeachment now.

The person you are responding to you is one of those who would give Trump an out if he was caught shooting someone on 5th avenue.

Nothing you say or do will bring him any closer to observable reality and truth.

I am a firm believer in banging my head against a wall in hopes that repeated effort will produce different results.

I don't think Tristan approves of all the bad things (failing on climate change, lying about electoral college victory*, assaulting Stoynoff**, not comprehending hurricane briefings**, etc.). It's just that the cost is 'worth it' vis a vis the existential threats he perceives.

*This is something he cares about deeply, so we know it's lying about easily verified numbers.
** Lol, like any of his supporters actually followed the most obvious case of sexual assault.
*** Yeah, it's just because he didn't understand or remember where he got various briefings.

It's willful at this point.

@Berzerker

You have finally convinced me that you are no long worth talking with on either politics or Sumeria. First, you still cling to the lie that Ukraine interfered in the US 2016 election and not Russia. Second, you persist against authoritative evidence that Cylinder Seal 243 supports ancient alien influence on earth history. In both cases you are flat out wrong. I had hoped that you were smarter than that. :bye:

I never said Russia didn't interfere in our election (just the opposite). I said Ukraine did interfere and investigating that interference is justified even if it involves political opponents. The same was true for RussiaGate, I supported that investigation too until I found out the Obama administration spied on Trump based on lies from the Dems. At that point I supported Mueller because I thought he'd show it was a scam perpetrated by people distracting from their election rigging to snuff out the Bern. IG Horowitz did that instead, Mueller was limited to Trump's 'collusion'.

As for your authoritative evidence, he doesn't explain what VA 243 represents, he just denies it shows the solar system based on his claim the sun was never depicted like that. I explained why his argument has a flaw in the Ley Lines thread. As for my beliefs, I'll abandon them when I have good reason. The ones I hold dear will be harder to leave behind, so I'll need solid evidence and I'm skeptical of the people you believe.

Donald Trump moves on from screwing veterans to screwing soldiers on active duty:
Pentagon says 34 US soldiers suffered traumatic brain injury in Iran strike
Trump downplayed injuries: ‘I heard they had headaches’
Expert calls president’s comment ‘insulting and disrespectful’

Thirty-four US soldiers have been diagnosed with concussion or traumatic brain injury from an 8 January Iranian missile attack on their base in Iraq, the Pentagon has revealed.
The Pentagon spokesman, Jonathan Hoffman, said on Friday that eight service members who had been previously transported to Germany had been moved to the United States.

Donald Trump had previously said that the US “suffered no casualties” from the attack, which was a reprisal for the US drone strike assassination of the Iranian general Qassem Suleimani.

Questioned later about reports of brain injury, Trump downplayed their severity: “I heard that they had headaches. And a couple of other things. But I would say, and I can report, it is not very serious.”

But Hoffman confirmed the injuries on Friday, adding: “This is a snapshot in time, what he wanted to make sure is that you’re provided with the most accurate numbers.”

Of the 34 injured service members, 17 have returned to duty and the other 17 were taken to a US military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. Of those taken to Germany, eight were deemed serious enough to be flown to the US on Friday. Hoffman said that if the symptoms of those in Germany worsened, they also could be sent to the US. He added that the injured soldiers both US and Germany were being treated as out-patients.

Michael Kaplen, the chair of the New York State Traumatic Brain Injury Services Coordinating Council and past president of the Brain Injury Association of New York State said that he was “shocked at the ignorant statement” made by Trump.

“To equate traumatic brain injuries as just a headache is insulting and disrespectful to the thousands of military service members suffering from the signature wound of the Iraq/Afghanistan conflict,” he said.

He added that the condition, also known as TBI, is a “life-altering” injury.

“It’s physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral consequences affect every aspect of an individual’s life,” he said. “A brain injury is only ‘mild’ if it is someone else’s brain. There is nothing ‘mild’ about a mild brain injury.”

so yes, he can and does get away with more or less anything. Expect a high-street shooting any time.
I don't think it will. I think they will go for "there are no rules that bind the president and he can do whatever he wants". In addition, they will add: "the Dems are trying to steal your vote in November by taking trump off the ballot, as if trump has any chance of actually being removed.
Never mind the fact that it's a minority vote. ;)

He said it more than once, speaking about different subjects.
no

Article 2 of the constitution says he can do whatever he wants.
This is getting warm. He was referring to the fact that he can hire and fire anyone in the executive branch, but specifically Mueller in the interview they are mentioning.

They also included Trumps 50 second Hey Russia if you're listening video byte, where Trump basically unzips his pants and memes all over CNN's face, as solid evidence that he colludes with foreign powers, so between these we have a pretty clear measure of the level of substance conveyed in these articles.

The person you are responding to
should not matter.

This is not acceptable. Its not cute. Its not funny. Its just stupid and in his case criminal. This is a man who has decades of business dealing with oligarchs in Russia. This is what is wrong with civil discourse. Your attitude is front and center the problem.

Perhaps if someone— you, the house managers, or anyone in between— assembled a history of these dealings with Russian oligarchs and then showed empirically that these led to collusion during the election and/or corruption afterwards, there would be more serious discourse. You'd also have the additional challenge of selling me or others on the importance of the issue; you can't vote for Hillary Clinton or any other establishment politician and then turn around and say something like this matters to you, or should matter to me.

In any case, if you didn't lean so hard on the Hey Russia byte, then sure, you'd be considerably less open to ridicule.

You do realize they turned around and hacked DNC hours after the sound byte? Hours. I mean his stupidity if nothing else is bloody impeachable. If he is not in collusion he sets himself up to look like he is so badly that he should not be trusted with a hot dog stand much less US government. At least Clinton knew how to do the dance, this crap is unbearably stupid to watch.

Lately I've been leaning more and more toward my theory that Berzerker is a chatbot, but I guess we'll never know
He hit his tee shots too good when we played golf to be a chatbot. His putting was a bit iffy though. ;)
