NFL Regular Season 2012

The Giants were 1-2 4QC away from not making the playoffs at all. Coughlin is a fantastic playoffs coach (though he sure was lucky to face the impotent Falcons, a rusty Packers squad that played its second worst football of the past two seasons, and a 49ers team sans #1 return men in one of the most spectacular special teams disasters in a long while) -- but his regular seasons are something else entirely. The Giants went from super bowl and 12-4 seasons to missing the playoffs in two consecutive years; they're not a consistent squad at all.
And they won the Lombardi Trophy, not the Packers or the 49ers.

And to say the Cowboys have been bad so they will always be bad is one of the most basic fallacies you could make.
Aside from two new shiny names at CB, what major changes have they made to their team?

Yeah because this was definitely the best Patriots team in years, not like they had an incredibly easy regular season schedule where they lost 100% of their games that involved facing a team with a winning record or anything.
Considering the Patriots made it to the Super Bowl, yes.

Hey, they're set up to do the exact same thing this season!

Because it's impossible to get lucky in the playoffs amirite?

They beat the consensus two best teams in the league, Green Bay (at Lambeau) and New England, as well as the best defensive team (San Fran) at home and held the Failcons to 2. They did much the same thing with essentially the same team in 2008.

That's not luck, you mad. Hell, I mad too, but I'm not going to ignore reality.

EDIT: And they barely beat out Phily and Dallas to get into the playoffs, so that must say something about the NFC East's overall quality.

The NFC East was under .500 last year against non-divisional opponents in the regular season. :p

And the Skins swept the Giants last year :crazyeye: .

I was waiting for that :p NFC East is always overhyped, but it's not trash and it has quality drama.

We all mad, because I hate the Giants. Not as much as Philthydelphia, but I still hate them. But yeah, they earned themselves at least a little respect.

We did it to Green Bay the year before, so I think it's a right of passage now.

I wonder if the Redskins can beat themselves so they can go the playoffs too? :hmm:

Redskins are like Iowa State and Nevada, so irrelevant that sometimes you let your guard down and give them a fluke win.

AFC North:

1. Cincy

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I'm not sure it'l happen just yet. Ravens and Steelers are aging pretty hard though, and the Browns are pretty much doomed to perpetual suck, so it wouldn't surprise me if we take the division in a couple years. I'd be willing to bet we get a wild card slot this year though.

A reply that's utterly devoid of substance.

:goodjob:
Well what did you expect me to say? The fact of the matter is that the Giants won. When you win the biggest game in the NFL, you have to be pretty darn good.

Cowgirls win. That was a pretty decent game, especially the second half.

gloatgloat

Cowboys looked terrific. Still, alot of our skill players are injury prone and the hype train is going to go into hyperdrive this week. This team has to handle it to actually go anywhere.

Yeah, and that simply doesn't address the post, which stated the Giants are an inconsistent team, not a bad team.

Also,, I guess Dallas can never beat the Giants, eh?

Cowboys looked pretty good except for all the stupid penaltys.

As for the Giants, Bradshaw did well, Manning did not so good, but admittedly, some of his receivers dropped passes they should have caught. I saw several that hit Cruz right in the numbers and he didnt make the catch.

Kevin Ogletree's season line : 128 catches, 1824 yards, 32 TD.

Spoiler :
Obligatory Week 1 gross overreaction post.

:yup: If they keep up that penalty rate, it will bite them hard in the hindquarters.

Cook was rushed into action. It shouldn't be this piss poor as the season goes on.
