You must have a Tier 1 government (Autocracy, Classical Republic, or Oligarchy).

Didn't play for a long time, now I've bought Gathering Storm (without the new Maya Pack) and began again. In the current game it happened that my unit got xp, although others did the fighting. For example, a city revolted and attacked its mongol masters, my cavalry (Inca) just arrived to get the city and liberate it again for the 100 diplomacy points. The cavalry gained a level, although the free city didn't attack it. I also didn't have any alliance with the mongols.
What makes that happen, didn't see it before? Can I influence it somehow? (Like bringing units as witnesses to AI wars for free xp)
I played with YNAMP, but this mod really doesn't touch units, so I don't think it has anything to do with it. Second mod this time was historic speed, that could be a suspect, but it also seems only to touch unit costs.

The unit that takes the city gets +10XP. I believe this is true even if the city is bombarded or range-attacked to zero health before you move the melee or cavalry unit in to take it.

:king:

Satchel, that is not what I meant. What I meant was that in this game, sometimes when an unit from me or from the AI gains experience against free cities, another unit nearby from another player also gains the same amount of experience, although that unit doesn't do nothing that round. For example, my bombard blocks the way for the AI musketman behind, gets bombarded by the city and gains the 2 xp, and the german musketman behind it also gains 2 xp. Or a keshik attacks some unit of the free city, and my cavalry which does nothing also gains xp.

Today's issue is joint wars. I understand that the current version lets you use CBs with a joint war, but I don't seem to be able to propose anything but a Surprise War. I have the CBs for Formal War (I was denounced) and Territorial Expansion, but the only options which appear when proposing Joint Wars are Surprise Wars. Have I just missed something obvious in the UI?
It works like this: The AI you want to join has to have the conditions for that war type, not you. For example if the AI A can declare a formal war against B, you can make a joint formal war deal with A against B.

What am I doing wrong that is making a religious victory an impossible slog? I can't create Apostles fast enough to keep up with the AI, and I just don't have enough faith to keep the holy war alive on more than a single front at a time. I was finally able to settle a couple of cities all over the map so when I do get Apostles, they're at least close to their targets, but there's no way I can hold the entire map long enough to get the last couple of civs.

I will say that this game I have finally learned that actually gurus are important, after all :P

Makes sense. Is that true for all CBs? Kongo occupies Calcutta, but I can't ask Gandhi to sign on for a Reconquest War. (I suppose if I could do it, I wouldn't be allowed to occupy anything but Calcutta.)

Edit: doesn't look like colonial wars work either.

Hi,

Am I able to download mods via steam and copy the folder across to the Epic Games launcher location?

Hello guys,

So i downloaded the Real Strategy mod , it appear in the "downloadable content" in the game. But when i launch a new new game it shows error encountered with the mod. I'm on PC Gathering Storm. Plz can someone help?

It really seems to work, see picture. I didn't denounce any of these two, but I can join the wars that Freddy can pick. And I didn't pick that golden age war dedication either, that belongs also to Freddy.

Laying on of Hands Moshka promotion: specifies governor’s units heal fully. What are governor units? They don’t have units afaik.

What happens if you build Stonehenge after all religions have been founded? Do you still get free great prophet and get ability to found extra religion?

Two quick questions:

(1) Can Great People be captured or killed? I've seen a couple of Great Generals wandering around, but when I try to take or kill them, they seem to teleport to the nearest city of the civ that recruited them?

(2) Is there any way to prebuild, such as for a Wonder?

1. Great Generals cannot be killed. I dont know about other Great people but I guess same goes for them.

2. No that I am aware of. You can of course chop forest/jungle or harvest resource to speed up building time. Well you can chop forest when queue is empty and then select wonder also. That is kind of prebuild but not quite. Prebuild was possible in Civ3 but not in CivV...Dont know was it possible with civ4 because i skipped that version

After looking into it a little more, I'm not sure that any of the friendly powers have outteched the prospective target as much as I have, so maybe they don't qualify for the Colonial CB. And Reconquest doesn't make any sense as a Joint War, so that one probably just doesn't work. (Really, Joint Wars should have everybody using their own CBs, shouldn't they?)

So, yeah, everything's probably WAD. Thanks.

About Maya unique ability...English is not my first language so it says bonus for cities within 6 tiles. Does it mean that maximum number of tiles between cities is 5 to get the bonus or can there be 6 tiles between cities?
