I'm about to make an alliance with China where I'll take Metamorphoses, Illiad, or Odyssey from them. I want to know how theming bonuses work. How can those great works be themed ?

Basically, there aren't any theming bonuses for books (writers) !

There are theming bonuses at art museums (so works from ARTISTS Great People) and also at archeological museums (so things dug up by an archeologist)

There is a screen in the UI where you can see all the buildings that you have constructed that can host you works of art (relics from apostles, books from writers, pieces of art from artists and pieces from archeologists)...

In that screen, some of the building will have a 'THEMING BONUS' line... you can hover over that line with your mouse, and a text will appear telling you what you need to do to activate the theming bonus...

Basically, it demands that you match the same type of art form but from different artists, or that you match archeological finds from the same era but from different civilizaitons

hope this helps

Anyone know why this tile is 0 appeal? It should be 7

Yes it persists, no I cant build a resort. Could it be because its outside the 3 tile city radius?

No, that should not matter anything.

Best to make a thread in the bug report forum, I can't think of anything else.

Do you use mods?

I notice all the time, that when I build a wonder, the city expands. How exactly does this work? Do I get a fixed amount of culture for building a wonder, or does it just award a few tiles?

Is selling great works at ridiculous prices considered an exploit?

For what?

I mean, you're free to do whatever you want, "exploit" is just a term people use for things they consider to be out of line or unintended.

The only thing you kind of need to be careful with is Game of the Month, but I believe the only thing they consider an exploit there is giving away cities to the AI in order to win a religious victory.

Obviously.
I'm new to this forum so I wasn't sure if there was a general consensus.
Or if there was some value to great works that I'm unaware of that makes this trade fair.

AI does weird deals on occasion.

I would say that the consensus on this forum is that, in the end, you can play the game in whatever way you want. Some people want to abuse every system in every way possible, others say "that's an exploit, I won't use it". If it's single player, no one is going to call you out on anything, if it's multiplayer you'll just have to ask the other people you're playing with.

So I like to rephrase the original question (as I understood it) to "What would be in this case a 'fair' deal?" ... in the sense to help Trajan not to shoot himself into his foot (or both :D) ... just to keep the game a bit longer 'interesting' ...

PS. I tried to play the early CIV games in an 'optimal' way ... it takes years to let go the 'demon of perfection' ...

I couldn't give you a 'fair' deal. For me it's either

1. I'm not going for a culture victory and I neither get nor want Great Works.
2. I am going for a culture victory and I consider them invaluable.

Honestly, in this specific case, it's really NOT a fair deal heh ? ;-)

That being said... the question you should always ask yourself is this one: Will I be less happy about my victory because I accept this deal ?
If the answer is yes, you shouldn't do it... otherwise, it's YOUR game... Trades should be good for you... sometimes they're just TOO good
and almost singlehandedly garantee a victory... when that happens, I personnally don't take them... because I know that I'll always feel that
the victory wasn't all that much about my good play...

On my continents lens, it shows two different colors for the landmass I am on, but under the tile description it lists both colors as Pangaea Ultima. Am I being cheated on only having one continent on my landmass when it shows 2 different colors?

I'm mainly going for the boost to build an airstrip on a different continent. I think I can get it by going to a remote island, however.

I'd say, build an airstrip on the non-capital continent and see if you get the boost.

Is it just me then? :D

This was just an unanswered question I felt like repeating.

I also have another one, though this is not so much about the game, but about the forums. Is there any "official" thread for the soundtrack discussion? I sort of feel like I didn't have enough space in the elimination game format :D
