I'm jealous of your pathfinder campaign.

You didn't spend any of that cash on raise dead for your comrades? Tsk, tsk.

I had been worried last semester that I'd bitten off more than I could chew, overloading at uni and taking on an extra day a week at work. I was really having to cram at the end of semester, which is unlike my normally well-planned and paced study pattern. But got my marks back, and turns out I had my best semester ever. I thought I'd blown one exam worth 70% in particular, but ended up getting a really high mark. Everyone else must have done really bad.

I was in a bit of a slump and a weird "back from a trip, having the blues, can't get anything done" type of mood for the last couple months.. Didn't even unpack until very recently, and I got back in August. No idea why, nothing in particular had been bugging me, I wasn't day dreaming of far away lands, I was just indifferent to getting anything done. All the rooms in the house were a mess except my office which had levels of messiness appropriate for an office, bills weren't getting paid on time, emails weren't getting answered, mail wasn't being opened, etc.

Well, I figured out and now have a system that helped me snap out of it. It's not really a system, it's more of a list. I have a list of all things that I need to do, whether it's cleaning up my closet, or cleaning up my desktop, or measuring a wall, or calling a plumber, or creating a monthly budget, or whatever. I have small and big tasks on there, stuff I really need to get done, stuff that's vaguely on my radar, and anything in between. Right now I have 34 items on this list, and when I can think of something that I will need to eventually get done or wouldn't mind doing, I add it to the list.

So here is the thing, under this list I also have a list of all the things that I have already done in chronological order, datestamped, most recent things first. And each time I look at it, it makes me think "Nice, look at all those accomplishments".. And some of them are actually quite substantial and have improved my day to day activities, such as the "clean the bathroom" task. Some are quite small such as the already mentioned "clean up desktop"

Anyway, nothing got me going after months of getting NOTHING done.. and now I'm forcing myself to get at least one item off my list a day. It's sort of a ritual/routine now - I look at the list a couple times a day and try to see if I feel like knocking off anything that's on there. If I don't, I pick something easy, but sometimes I have a lot of time and what the hell - adding a worthy accomplishment to the "DONE" list and seeing it there when you look at the list feels really really good.

So that's my rave, I finally got off my butt and figured out a way to start getting stuff done.

A girlfriend might motivate you to keep you place cleaner. :p

My E10K DAC+Amp I finally got delivered is a pretty sweet improvement to my audio.

I think it'd be fun to play a tabletop RPG again. Alas, life caught up with my gaming group years ago. It's nice to hear that ol' fashioned gaming hasn't been completely subsumed by PCs and consoles, though.

Yeah, this.

I have played exactly 1 one-off module (the Pathfinder goblin fireworks one) in about a decade. Probably more, the last time I remember going through a proper campaign was middle school, and THAC0 was A Thing then.

That's one of the reasons why I don't have a girlfriend! So that I can do what I want! :p

My place is usually clean enough, but yeah, ever since I got back from my trip... I haven't done anything to keep it tidy..

until now! (let's say last week, which is when I started my list project/system)

Deutschland über alles!
Germany May Offer Model for Reining In Fossil Fuel Use said:
But last year, Germany, the world’s fourth-largest economy, reached a milestone by reducing its overall energy consumption while still recording modest economic growth of 1.5 percent, breaking a traditional pattern in which nations see their energy use fall only during recessions. The share of renewable energy use has continued to rise as the use of fossil fuels has fallen — all while tempering the concerns of industry about rising costs and maintaining global competitiveness.

[...]

The foundation for the entire effort has been the support of German citizens, who have been willing to shoulder the burden of increased costs in the short-term, in the long-term hope of leaving their children with a cleaner, more sustainable system.

Not the proper character class, who can raise people who've been burnt to ashes by dragonfire?

Congrats on a job well done, Camikaze! :goodjob:

Anyone with true resurrection or wish, but he didn't specify total bodily destruction. :)

So today when I got to work, they told me I had a 1 week holiday.

I was completely like 'WTH? I only work 12 hours a week and have only been here for 3 weeks? Is it paid?'.

Yup. 1 week paid holiday. :woohoo:

Writing is nice.

(This will work only on DarkBlue, I know, I know.) The link. You want to seeee it.

A few were incinerated. My character can't use magic and I didn't think there was anything I could do about it. Plus, my friends wanted new characters, and they're the ones who picked a fight with a dragon.

Didn't hurt that I didn't want anyone else going for the throne... :p

Was invited to speak to some 200 people in the volunteer festivity earlier tonight. Spoke ad-lib for just 3-4 min, and did fine. It was pretty nice for me overall :) (just said general stuff about the philo program, etc; i wasn't told to prepare in advance, just was asked to there)

Public speaking before a gathered audience is a difficult task to master. I am no good at it. I get nervous and then start to think about being nervous and end up botching the whole thing. Sounds like you have a knack for it if you can pull it off without preparation even.
