Squid, pork, leberwurst, sardines, cheese, green peppers, red peppers, salad… one happy Tak does that make.

I spent Thursday and Friday working on a thruster for my team's satellite. Today I had a big revelation while I was drinking beer and rallied the team to iron out the kink I found in the design on Tuesday. Then, barring disaster, the design will be ready to hand of for fabrication on Wednesday. That same day, hopefully, the team will have also taken me up on my offer to walk them through patent stuff so we can actually sell the design I worked on.

I'm doing it mang, I'm a real engineer. :smug:

It's been a blast!

Got a gig editing papers for medical school students at $7 a page. Won't be a big money-maker but if I get around 2-3 papers a month from it, that should likely come to around $80-90 which would pay for the internet bill and my phone bill. Can't go wrong with that. This is important as a rave for me as I edited a personal statement from a student going to Harvard for medicine just two months ago free of charge since it was a friend and it seems like that paid off. Neat.

I also made some pretty darn tasty spaghetti yesterday that still tastes pretty darn tasty today.

Huh, my week seems to be getting better and better. Each individual paper will net me at least $50. I've also been signed on under a company in Vancouver that works on educating children in wildlife conservation and the environment for writing 3-4 articles a month, $20 a pop. I'm in talks with a guy who's making a social media site in order to market his fundraiser and drive more traffic to his website, which would net me over $300 if things go well. I just received two more contracts this morning from a long-time client that will net me more than $100 and I'm about to get underway with another contract to redo all the volunteer programs with a large company that is based in the UK but services most of Asia.

It was literally just five days ago that I was kneading my hands over and over again, worrying that I wouldn't find work and watching my money slowly drain down.

This should, hopefully, be a nice boost. It will at least be enough for me to afford getting my driver's license, passport, and renewed citizenship ID next month, which will be nice.

An even better touch is that this completely goes against my rant from yesterday in the rants thread about my portfolio. Each article with the environmental site will be applicable for my portfolio as will the volunteer programs.

I am content with how my day is going thus far.

Hey, maybe your name will one day be in the news as the designer of this supercool flashy stuff they just shot into space!

It's 2:15 in the afternoon on a solid overcast Saturday that's already dumped over 4" of rain since 7am. I've lowered every shade to cover the windows in my house and am now walking around in boxers and a t-shirt for the rest of the day. Life is good.

EDIT: Derp, it's Sunday.

It's 6am Monday morning and it's a holiday. I'm heating up steel cut oats that have been soaking overnight. Life is good.

Just got an email, seems another story (the seventeenth) will be printed in September. This is in a much smaller magazine though (a free-press) in which i also had one story before :D

I thought I had broken the keyboard on my wife's laptop and started panicking. Then I restarted it and everything was A-Okay. whew

Norwegian, and it's free. My Etihad flight last week had wifi, but it cost about $10 for an hour (or $20 for 24 hours, so it'd be potentially worthwhile if I'd gotten onto it early, or if there wasn't ample alternative entertainment).

2: For any odd number, x, greater than 1, x2 - 1 produces an even multiple of eight.

Why this works: because x2 - 1 = (x+1)(x-1), and if x is an odd number, X+1 and X-1 will both be even, and one of them has to be divisible by four, and multiplying a number divisible by two and a number divisible by four will always get you a number divisible by eight.

Math is awesome.

What did he say?
