I would imagine caring about success within the context of the child's individuality is worth more than the question of advocating genius or persistence. Many parents want their children to be successful at what they assign their children to, and often care very little about the child's own wants. To them, "hard work" or "genius" are interchangeable aspects of the same reality: being forced to do pursue excellence in something they may have no desire to excel in.

I agree, that's why I chose home-schooling, and my oldest son want to be a Chef and he cook and make cake at home. But the emphasis on reaching their goal through process than because of they are being themselves is still important so he can accept failure not as a threat to his identity, he need to feel liberated on failing without feeling burden about it.

I remember my sister ask him if he ever study at home, he say he never study, even though he know 2 languages and able to read 2 alphabet, because everything is pretty much playing/game in his view. But I think I need to put him to regular school next year so he can socialize with other and perfected his Indonesian, but what I worry is it would kill his love for book and learning when it's become obligatory for him to do so at school.

edit: To learn Indonesian is essential for them to communicate with other children, not always with me or my wife. And we cannot conditioned him to learn Indonesian when he doesn't want to, except at school which the situation would naturally makes him learn.

I hear an ad on the radio that keeps saying to call a phone number....but then it never gives the number. Why do I get the impression they just grabbed the audio from a TV commercial and didn't think about it?

I'm still cleaning through my bookmarks. There's a silly amount of links that now redirect to porn sites. None of them used to be a porn site.

So Civ VI was free last week and I finally got it and played a bit of it.

I don't like, dislike it or anything, but my thoughts while playing it are the same as my thoughts playing Civ V, which is "I'd rather be playing Civ IV or Civ III right now"

Also the interface feels a bit awkward to navigate and I have trouble finding some things like my civilization's total culture or faith (or even an individual city's total culture) that seem like they really should be easier to find, like is there really nowhere I can look to see how much culture I need for border expansions, or how long it will take to get some particular tile? Kinda frustrating there.

I have freaking really bad gallstones. Had an attack the other night & ended up going to ER and they said my gallbladder is up to it's neck in stones. ****ing annoying. Whatever, I'm adjusting my diet & pretty much have to cut out the stress eating which is like 50% of my eating... Seeing a specialist Thursday, hopefully they don't have to remove parts of me.

On the plus side maybe this is part of why my stomach has hurt for 20 years (dunno how long these stones have been there building up cuz I only just got a cat scan just now, I had an endoscopy within the last year but that just checks your stomach and the upper part of the small intestine). It's annoying I had to find out when it may be too late to save my gallbladder. Of course if I wasn't able to make it to a hospital (lived somewhere without access to medical care) I'd be really f-ed so I try to count my blessings.

How many of the 10 Commandments can 1 person break if they live all by themselves on an island? :hmm:
Keep in mind no one can tell them when Sunday is.

Stones suck!

I had a kidney stone one time, like a hot knife.

The hospital won't hand out any pain medicine to a person in the fetal position because they think everyone is a drug addict :twitch:, but happily do so once the tests come back positive.

Good luck Narz.

I had my gall bladder removed maybe 15 years ago. The operation was not much. Just a few small incisions and maybe a day after in the hospital. No issues or complications since. Gall stone pain is terrible when it happens. I feel for you. :(

Well, if you break them every day...
- murder and theft are not really possible
- adultery neither, under the assumption that this doesn't include animals
The other 7 are possible.

Can you really covet your neighbor's stuff or falsely accuse them of something if you don't have any neighbors, though? That eliminates two more commandments.

I love how when updating fanfics with FanFicFare, it says "There's 9 good and 42 bad updates..." as though it's passing judgement on the new chapters. (Bad updates usually mean that there actually isn't an update.)

I have to imagine there at least a few pages in the Talmud about this, most likely with six different rabbis giving seven different opinions.

One of those opinions, surely, is that these Christians must be crazy and that the holy day is Saturday.

I think an inflatable raft could double as a kiddie-pool.

(Says the man who, taking a walk, thought his neighbor had a kiddie-pool set out and, getting closer, realized it was an inflatable raft.)

Like the janitor's knife-wrench, it's for kids.
