Shiro's Levante Pack

Except the Greeks also got slingers from other parts, the Rhodians were the elite, but every city had a few as well as recruited barbarians from up north…

I hope this will be made.

I found a picture of a german, celtic and eastern slinger, from the Europa Barbaroum 2 TW set.

I don't think I will be able to make those. But I gave my sloppy slinger animation to themanuneed, so maybe he can improve it and make more slingers for different civs.

Whatever you can come up with is just SUPER.
Slingers perhaps had a minor role in early warfare, but they did some important duties.
So since not many versions of slingers have been made.
Any kind any amount will just be great.

:yup: I have a few other units in the way, but I promise I'll try your animations soon. Right now, my main concern is Civinator's request (Shakespeare as a cultural leader). Then back to Antiquity :)

as i have said before slingers make havoc among unarmored targets. it is recorded that they were using bronze projectiles that were harming also the horses...so the slinger is important amonf shepherd populations...

... And thereby could be given Stealth attack against unarmored targets, giving an undoubtedly otherwise weak unit some punch.

Best,

and if they got stealth vs all units they could be "sent" in to finish up injured and at the time weaken units "hiding" behind strong perhaps Hoplite units.

Maybe make them move 2 so they could out of trouble. I think moving 2 would make them interresting for the AI, to completement horsemen. Slingers should come earlier then the horse anyway. Slingers should complement other light early units like Velites and Peltasts. Shouldn´t they ?
Having stealth and lesser offensive/defensive than these Velites and Peltast they have a unique factor.
After all a lot of countries used slingers in early warfare for what I have read.
Then Balearean and Rhodian slingers should then be "mercenaries" with little extras than those converted sheep-boys.

The Rhodians used cast lead/iron pellets IIRC.

I hope this will be made.

One of many new units that will be appearing in Roma Eternus Palma

That´s a great slinger. Could serve as any Med-civ I guess.
Have it been realesed or are you sitting on it until your Mod is ready.

Looking at many mods around this forum it could take years ;-(

If you made it Guardian I can only say it´s just what the doctor ordered.
Great Mate

Nope, not me. The credit goes to Imperator. Sry, but you will have to wait. It has already been about 10 months and the units are about half done. If you haven't already, visit the thread and learn more.

A good one - it's from Imperator, so no surprise here. :)
The only detail came to my mind based on the common sense - the strap should be rotated vertically (currently in horizontal surface), otherwise it can hurt slinger himself.

The israelite spearman appears to have different sized figures in frames 113 - 120 in the run animation.
Hey Shiro,

Just noticed that the Israelite Spearman has something funny going on with his (Westward) Run animation -- the unit suddenly increases in size, and there's a single-pixel line around the bottom & right hand side of the frame. (see attached for screenshot)
