Show me your orders/battle plans!

Does anyone have good war orders? I really want to see how to organize and plan them.

.....look through the previous 37 pages.

TBH, you can't plan war orders, because you can't know where the enemy is going to be or what they will do. You just have to hope your generals are better trained, and the stats/luck is on your side.

You're wong, Abaddon. You have to make contingencies for every possible tactical situation in the battlefield. That way you either annoy the mod so much with unnecessary information that he makes you lose (if plausible) or impress him so much with your dedication that he lets you win (if plausible). A coin toss in desperation. :D

Either way its still in the lap of the Mods. An I am not chinese :p

Or just make a plan that doesn't depend on tactics so damn much.

Another important tip is to always have reserves handy, so that they could be used for damage control or in the event you do better than planned.

Everytime I try that I end up losing to someone who does. ;)

That's just because you always lose. :p

I focus on being vague and letting the mod decide.

For D'Art, a sample of my orders from NukeNES: Victoria. Yes I realize it's not a terribly good NES. Yes I didn't really spend time on these orders. Does that mean he can do better than I can? Probably.

Primary Objective 1: Seize the coast. Navy engages in shore bombardment; army takes the coast. The lines on the top indicate that we're going to hold there. We're going to take the coast and then push into Scandinavia. Half should go into this.

Primary Objective 2: Take back the Russian land. Half should go into this as well (the bottom arrow nearest the bottom of N)

Secondary Objective: To push into Scandinavia. The top two yellow arrows represent this. Our forces will link up and then destroy the enemy.

South Force
-Army: 14 Infantry Divisions, 3 Cavalry Divisions, 2 Armored, Half the Conscripts (see: Internal
-Navy: 1 Battleship, 1 Submarine
-Air Force: 5 Biplane Squadrons

Primary Objective: To retake the rogue states. This is represented by the bottom 4 arrows. We will surround them. Divide the forces 4 ways equally and do this. We will also bombard them from the Black Sea as well as send troops over like that to surprise them.

Secondary Objective: To push into Germany. We will link up the forces and go for a drive in. Top arrow should stay near the coast; bottom arrow should stay near the south. If they push in through the middle we can surround them.

Internal
-Conscription. We are calling up all able-bodied men aged 21 or older. They will fight in the war for glory and to regain Russia's honor. Yes we never lost any. No it doesn't hurt to propagandize. We will drive the foreign devils out of the country and prove that we are a dominant European power. That's the message.

Foreign
-Lowlands should be joining our alliance. :)
-Britain is staying neutral.

Not bad, kinda like my orders. Yours are far better though, I can't work well with maps.

My orders from DaNES, an experiment with neutrality as the Netherlands. Didn't last long.

SPENDING ORDERSp

-2 EP on military upkeep
-1 EP to improve my infrastructure. No point in making my eventual invaders drive on poor roads, eh?
-2 EP to improve my education. What else am I gonna spend it on?
-1 EP to improve my Bureaucracy. It's nice to have a great system for the occupier to keep track of my population when it's conquered.
-2 EP will be spent on a project to break free of the Recession and turn it into a Growing Economy

MILITARY ORDERS

I'm the Netherlands. What do you want me to do, invade Germany?

Next turn I promise to start expanding my navy a bit, but I want to fix that Recession.

DOMESTIC ORDERS

Let's try and fix this recession thing. The good thing about playing the Netherlands is that I don't have to worry about my army at first, because I'm not likely to get invaded in the first turn.

The government will implement a New Economic Policy, a name which I like. The goal is to change my economy from Recession to Growing. Among these is a new road network, a more efficient government, education spending to train a new generation of engineers and world-class businessmen. If you want to include all dat spending in the project, go ahead, but it probably shouldn't matter. Also, government investments for profitable businesses, subsidies and guidance to help unprofitable businesses become profitable again, and a dedicated Bureau to find people jobs and help reduce unemployment will be included. The Netherlands is not in a recession, I want to make it clear. Say it with me: the Netherlands is not in a recession. Once people believe it, it'll be true.

DIPLOMATIC ORDERS

If Holland is threatened, or even spoke harshly at, it will roll over like a half-blind dog. That's because it's Holland. I ever tell you a joke about the time they had to scramble the entire Dutch Airforce, once, when I was living in this god-forsaken country? I'll do it in my next set of orders.

Spending Orders

-2 EP to finish up that NEP this turn. Nothing is more important than ensuring that our economy is healthy, so that we have lots of munny.

-1 EP to raise my bureaucracy, again.

I... don't have much else to spend it on? My education is being raised with the project, so... I know, I'll spend it on the NAVY! IN THE NAVY! *Insert Gay Music Video*

-2 EP on an inane desire for 10 Destroyers
-2 EP for 6 Cruisers

-1 EP to start a project, Dutch Merchant Fleet, to turn Rotterdam and Paramaribo into Economic Centers. I'll finish this one by throwing money at it next turn.

Military Orders

Conquer Antarctica. The Dutch Colonial Empire lives! /joke

Domestic Orders

Continue the NEP. We're "NEPing" our problems in the bud.

A new project will be started to turn Rotterdam and Paramaribo into economic centers. This will be done by cultivating the Dutch Merchant Fleet, and expanding our trade into South America and Europe.

Diplomatic Orders

Wow, Belgium is actually more messed up than Holland. Then again, this Netherlands hasn't legalized Marijuana yet. I'll get to it eventually, don't worry. And then Belgium will one-up me by removing all restrictions on fireworks, which will be exacerbated by the removal of customs and border posts due to the EU.

The Dutch Merchant fleet will attempt to strike up trade in South America, to take advantage of the growing tariff war, along with the actual war. Boo.

We're sending a survey team of 40 individuals to Arabia. They will move about the country and make note of its natural resources, opportunities for investment, etc etc. As I'm not confident in its stability, about 15 of those individuals will be members of the Dutch Special Forces, which is actually pretty good. In the event of a civil war, they will make for the coast, hop on the fastest ship out of there, and get back to the Low Country.

1927 and 1928 are missing as I did them from a different computer, while on vacation. I think I included the joke about the Dutch Airforce in one of these.

Spending Orders

1 EP to accelerate the Imperial Economic Reform Project to finish.

2 EP to start Venezuela's Royal Dutch Shell (Royal Dutch Shell: +1 Base Venezuelan Economy, +1 Caracas EC, +1 Venezuelan Infrastructure, +1 Amsterdam EC), details in diplomatic orders.

1 EP will find its way into the hands of the Quebecois. Details in diplomatic.

2 EP to give the Irish... medical supplies. Yes, medical supplies. The Netherlands hope they use these medical supplies to full effect on making sure the Brits don't get any booboos. Details are in the usual place.

1 EP to use as bribes, to grease the palms of officials in Mocambique, Guinea, and East Timor. These will be classified, in the state budget, as economic investment.

1 EP of logistics for the First Great Dutch Colony Grab, just in case.

Military Orders

10 infantry divisions and 3 artillery divisions are packing their bags for a trip to the colonies. And by colonies, I mean the Portugese colonies. There's 3 wonderful EP waiting to be snatched up by the first person with a free infantry division. Tally-ho! On the whole, troops are to try and keep their noses clean, because I want to replace the Portuguese by promising to be better, and using Indonesia as an example.
2 infantry divisions will deploy to West Timor, where they will go and take over East Timor. When West meets East, West wins. I don't expect much resistance, it should be a largely peaceful occupation. If not, draw on the Indonesians for support.
3 infantry divisions and an artillery division will deploy to Guinea. Chop chop, we're getting there before the Amerikaners.
5 infantry divisions and 2 artilleries are deploying to Mocambique. This is the tricky one, contact will be made before-hand with the colonial administration, to work out a peaceful takeover. The troops will work to secure the coastal cities first, and we'll worry about the interior later. If some shiny needs to be flung around to make the Portuguese understand, I've set some EP aside for it.

Suitable naval detachments should be provided, but I really don't expect any naval combat, so it shouldn't matter much.

Domestic Orders

Well, the Netherlands are doing great. What else can I say? I expect to get screwed when the Great Depression rolls around, but that hasn't happened yet, so I'm free to bask in the sun. Also, the best part about being in the Netherlands is that you aren't in Belgium. 'Tis a silly place.

We're finishing the Imperial Economic Reform, also.

Diplomatic Orders

The Kingdom of the Netherlands is beginning some hefty economic investment in Venezuela. The Royal Dutch Shell company is being founded, and it will begin development of Venezuela's natural oil reserves, building up the industry and infrastructure of the country as a side-effect (See RL), and getting the Netherlands lots of munny. 2 EP will be sent on the first turn to start the project, and 1 more EP every turn until its done, in addition to whatever Venezuela contributes.

The Netherlands is striking up an informal rapport with the Irish rebels, in hopes that we can get the "Global" alliance to sell us some of its gains from the war. Dutch ships, carrying arms and munitions and then go into Irish harbors carrying medical supplies. These medical supplies will be given to the Irish rebels using a dummy corporation or something. If the Irish want to pay us back, they can pay us in whiskey. Sufficient coverage will be made so that, if the ships are discovered, it can be seen as a few individuals using the Netherlands as a useful cover, like I considered using the Norwegian merchant fleet as a cover. To ensure security, the arms will be taken from a non-Dutch source and the crewmen will be ex-Navymen, with good records, and capable of keeping their mouths shut.

A similar thing will be done with the Quebecois, on which I have good information they're revolting this year. Similar covers will be used, to make it seem like someone is just using Dutch ships as a cover.

My long term plan was focused on Indonesia, which I had worked out a complicated scheme to defend against aggressors (Japan), and intended to start a project next turn once the Imperial Economic Reform was done. It was based around building up Java, so as to make it a prime target, and training local militias to hold onto the interior of Borneo. Airbases would be built around the Java Sea, with the plan of luring any hostile fleets into it using the treasures of Java, and then maurading them with land-based aircraft.

Well, all I can say is, you certainly use plenty of OOC in your orders. Maybe I should try that. Although it wanders the mind, it makes reading the orders much more fun and interestng. Lolz. I still can't stop grinning.

"I'm the Netherlands. What do you want me to do, invade Germany?"
Lolz.

My orders are written almost entirely OOC..

Didn't claim it was, I just think its clearer if I remove the IC waffle and tell the mod what I want to do.
Explanation's why it makes sence IC, and IC stories may follow in thread, but I have never phrased my orders IC.
