A.)
The Royal Line- Despite not necessarily needing a lineage in order to receive the title of
Thorsrdyn, the early rulers of the Avaimi will pass it on as such. Considering that the very first, Roech, has already ceded the throne to his son before the update actually begins (a year or two earlier), Rhayn is the current titleholder. A cautious, reserved man, Rhayn is quite the shadow of his father in a more mannered aspect. Next in line is Rhayn's own son, Vtaityn. As much as humanly possible, Vtaityn is as much of an opposite of his father. He is rash, brash, and hard-headed- once he decides upon a task, he refuses to cede. On the same side, he is quite open to change and growth- so long as it does not deal interfere with his own plans. Vtaityn has been quite influenced by Boyrn.
B)
Boyrn- Boyrn is the closest thing that the Avaimian culture has to a unifying force at the current moment. A senior advisor during the rule of Roech, Boyrn is quite competent and charismatic. A die hard Ytauzist, and a strongly held Rhidtath, Boyrn came to personal disagreements with Rhayn upon his accession and departs from the court after a particular nasty debate with Rhayn. After his departure, he travels the lands of the Prokym and Rutto. Seeing that Rhayn assumes power a year before the update, Boyrn will return to the land after six years of travel with a burning desire for change.
C.)
Boyrn's Declarations- Upon his return to the lands of the Avaimi, Boyrn will establish a small estate in the city of Arrile, due to his lack of interest in returning to the capital where Rhayn still rules. It will be here where he will attempt to establish the first 'Declarations' of the faith. A Declaration, in the Ytauzian sense, is a statement that is accepted as true without any contention. The first five Declarations have been accepted for a long period, and are accepted as truth by the population. They are:
D.)
The Passing of Rhayn- In the late part of the seventh year of the update during a particularly cold winter, the aged Rhayn will pass from a sickness, His passing will ignite a revolution in the Avaimian lifestyle and politics, beginning a shift from the old conservative order to a new, more dynamic era. The following spring, on a rather warm , humid day a ceremony will occur in which power is officially transfered to Vtaityn, making him the third Thorsrdyn. As soon as he comes to power he appoints Boyrn as his advisor, and the two men immediately begin to launch a series of reforms.
E.)
The Rebirth- A large number of changes are brought into the state during Vtaiyn's first year as the Thorsrdyn, a year known in the land as the Rebirth in the fact that the state is almost dynamically reborn. As his first action, the official name of land is changed from
Avaimi to a more modern
Evyn, a name roughly meaning 'Land of Belief”. The proper adjective is Evyni, and the people are either Evyni or Evynan ('Believers' ). This is mainly done from Boyrn's influence, showing his prominent role in the emerging society.
F.)
The CrierDuring his travels, Boyrn absorbed many of the ideas that have existed in the main world for some time now. One of those is the idea of an alphabet and a standardized tongue, and he will devoted himself to this. He will begin to work towards this goal, ordering the establishment of an official alphabet for the Bhehinarian tongue- the
Crier. Consisting of thirty-six characters, each representing a single sound of the alphabet, the Crier is the first 'official' system promoted in the land. The characters are based upon the Seshweay designs, but their sounds and proper forms do not correlate. After the introduction of the Crier, Vtaityn will force the keeping of all records in the alphabetic system. Bhehinar numbers, lacking any numerical forms, are always written out by their names.
G.)
The Avesth- In the same spirit of the Crier, Boyrn will introduce the concept of the calender into Evyn. It will be an almost complete lift from the Seshweay form, with the names of the months and such translated directly into Bhehinar. Named the Avesth, its first year correlates to the year 130 on the Seshweay. I do not expect you to keep track of it , and I'm mostly introducing it for further reasons that I'm hoping to establish.
H.)
The Taxes- The same year, Vtaityn will order the establishment of three distinct taxes: the work tax, the land tax, and the arms tax. The actual word 'tax' is a misnomer, considering that only one of these are actually collected funds. The work tax is the primary tax that will be collected; the actual tax is a concept that state that upon their seventeenth birthday, all males are required to donate a year of their life to the service of the state. Exceptions are made for those families with only a single son, or those with sons that are disabled; no exceptions are made considering class rankings except for the allowance of higher classes to pay their tax with bureaucratic service. The second tax, the land tax, is the only one in which funds are collected, is levied not on the amount of land a person owns, but instead on owing the land. A small fund is collected from every person that owns land, and this fund is used to support the actual process of administering the land. The final tax, the arms tax, is an optional tax that allows the people to donate arms to the state in exchange for various credits that can be used in place of serving the work tax, instead of serving in the army, or can be exchanged for a monetary fund.
I.)
The Bureaucracy – Yet another feature imported with his return, Boyrn will greatly expand the political workings of the state by pumping it full of new functions. The city of Asveydr will experience growth from this, as the central city of the state it will serve as the home of the new bureaucracy. Initially, the Bureaucracy will be limited to three divisions: the tax assessors, responsible for collecting the three taxes, the domestic division, responsible for administering judicial decisions and enforcing the laws, and the arms division, responsible for administering the army, which is held to a separate standing than the domestic population.
K.)
The village of Croalle- During this period, the village of Croalle will hopefully experience some growth. Lying to the general southeast of the city of Asveydr in the foothills of the Rhoms, Croalle will hopefully be able to find some success in terms of mineral wealth. The state will fund the expansion of the area's mines, and encouraging the growth of trades. As part of a growing prominence in the state, the road that connects Asveydr and Arrile will be expanded to end in Croalle. (100 gold used to expand the village and the road, and to encourage the growth)
L.)
The Reformation of the Armies- Prior to the rule of Vtaityn, there was no true definition of an army for the people of the lands. The military was mostly a grab bag of assembled odds and ends, and they were led by whatever warrior was deemed the strongest. This will end with Vtaityn. In his second year, he will order the structuring of the army, incorporating ideas in his army taken from many different sources. He will stress the mobility and speed of the troops, focusing more upon a speedy army than a more detailed one. In addition, the morale and discipline of the army will be taken in priority, and any professional soldier will be expected to hold their position no matter what. They will be drilled numerous, numerous times and any man caught breaking line will be severely punished for his transgression. The Evyni army will be modeled on a less flashy greek form- several rows of spearmen back by a few rows of archers. Calvary will not be utilized by the offensive troops, through horses will be used a pack animals. As a side note, the men serving in the army are not considered part of the domestic population, and are instead governed by the Arms division of the government. The army will be divided into numerous squads, and several squads will be placed under the command of one captain. Quite a few captains will be placed under the command of general to form a single army.
M.)
The Passing of Boyrn- In the fifth year of Rhayn's rule, roughly the twelfth of the update, Boyrn will pass; peacefully going in his sleep. Vtaityn will mark the day as a moment of mourning, and the date will become something of a holiday. While Vtaityn grieves for his lost 'mentor', much more than his father,he will take Boyrn's hatred for idol-based religions to heart, beginning to prepare for Boyrn's ultimate goal- the destruction of the idols of his travels. Having lived in the lands of the Prokym and Rutto, he will have harbored a deep hatred for their beliefs and destroying them was always his passion. Vtaityn will hold such as his own and will order the formation of a large, professional army- assisted by a core of militia- to take war upon the disbelievers.
N.)
The Beginning- Vtaityn will order the creation of 300 professional soldiers that will serve as the core of our armies. These men will primarily serve as spearmen, through fifty will be dedicated archers. In addition to the 300 professionals, Vtaityn will order the conscription of 2000 more militia, bring our total number to 4300. The militia, making the bulk of our armies, will serve as the front of the armies while the professionals will mostly be support and used to hold crucial positions
