StarNES: Updates Without Number (Epoch I)

Update VII: Quiet Times

quietzone.gif

Following the last era's more violent developments the galaxy took a turn for the boring. Some could call the various star-births, formation of planets, and expansion of the soon-to-be-great nebulae a positive progression, but I would call those people unimaginative.

Several stars emerged from the deep, dark primordial cosmic sea. The first was called Camulos (2207), an angry little red star too small to provide adequate heat for its firstborn planet, subsequently causing the small planet to experience extreme enough colds to hamper its habitability. Much further away the Crossroads system (1141) was born when its star, a great white-blue giant, erupted into existence; it's white light scorching its first, small son, and illuminating a sizable gas giant on the outer edges of the system. Near the fortunate Creatorus system the star Exterminatore (2020) manifested, bringing with it a cold, seemingly dead lump of rock on the outermost limits of the star's gravitational pull. Within the Central Cluster the dim, red glow of Jocasta (1311) flickered into sight, and thereafter the small star laboriously pursued creation of a middling system consisting of two meager, cold worlds; a single small world barely heated enough to form some sign of light; and two asteroid fields, which admittedly were impressive due to their size and the poor competition their neighboring solar bodies presented.

The galaxy's older systems saw some small development, beginning with Palanitra's (2215) system-completing creation of two large asteroid fields and creation of a sizable world which bore a thin, noxious atmosphere. Within Kri'thn (2011) a large terrestrial wasteland formed on the system's outer-limits, where the planet was born dead from the extreme cold; the same happened in Varynx (2209), thus ending the promising system's solar-body creation stage on a flat note. Creatorus (1819) filled itself out with a long chain of asteroids, and Nin Frauling (0420) also matured into a full system with the birth of its prime (and only) jovian. A single pair of wormholes bared themselves to the galaxy, linking Kraton-Kamulon (2309) to a space (1920) between Creatorus and Exterminatore.

More ominous rumblings came from the slow spread of nebulae across the galaxy, nearly linking the large central body wrapped around the Central Cluster with the gaseous growth around the Blessed Sector. Elsewhere, several comets shot through the Falia system (1707), doing very little actual damage save for the complete destruction of one of the system's many moons.

Map Changes
+Altered the texture for Cold Terrestrial Planets to communicate that they are (for now at least) cold, rocky wastelands; frozen liquids of any kind may or may not be present on the planets
+Altered the texture for Hot Terrestrial Planets to communicate that they are not geologically active (the last texture suggested that they had lava on them, they do not), but sun-scorched planets
+Altered the texture for Somewhat Habitable Terrestrial Planets to communicate that they are rocky worlds with minimal vegetation
+Altered the texture for Habitable Terrestrial Planets for funzies
+Altered the texture for Gas Giants for funzies

Wow, lots of low rolls for the upcoming turn. I foresee a lot of banking.

I gave out warnings this turn to our first rule-breakers, yay! :p To those who got warnings, I know that your infractions were small, but it goes a long way if you include your GC¤ Starting Totals and GC¤ Left Over After Spending. Please do so from here on out.

Also, after some deliberation I have decided that what we are mapping out is not the galaxy, but the arm/sector of one particular galaxy. Galaxies are huge, super huge, and if we were to accurately make one we would need to plop down 1,000,000+ more stars!!! Don't know why it took me this long to realize this.

Remember! Players can guess at my favorite part of the map for a GC¤ reward of 25GC¤ (and 25GC¤ more if you can guess why). Here is a hint: it is not any one star system.

24 GC¤ Available

Around Palanitra in hex 2215:
Place Moon around Small Gas Giant/2GC¤
Place Moon around Large Gaian Terrestrial/2GC¤

In hex 2116:
Place Nebula/10GC¤

Banked 10GC¤:

EDIT:

Your favorite part is...the many systems of the Blessed Sector, which have not been destroyed by incredibly cheap comets.

Considering I'm only buying one thing with all my money, I think you'll forgive me for not using the template.

60¤ - supernova Falia

Now I gotta go eat.

I'll let it slide this time.

edit: Oh! And since we are mapping a galaxy sector/arm instead of a whole galaxy we do not need as many stars, so epoch II can begin sooner than I had expected! I had figured it would begin around the end of april, but considering I tend to update every 2 days or so due to you awesomely prompt players I might be able to begin epoch II within a week or two! Epoch II will still see us making stars and such, but we'll also be making sentient species and notable flora/fauna and precursor remnants.

SouthernKing/49 GX
10 GC - Build 5 moons, 1 around each planet in both Varynx (2209) and K-K (2309) that does not already have one
15 GC - to build a large gas giant rogue planet in 2701 (if this is unacceptable due to it being a partial, then 2622), notreally important
20 GC - Nebula in 2408
4 GC - Banked

did someone guess nebula previously? you do seem to like placing them.

and I'll put up a wormhole map.. once I fix my stupid paint program. it seems to consider the mous offcenter.
or, I just use my touch screen.

I highly doubt it's that hard to bold/red your post if youre on a comp (if you are on a mobile device, all is forgiven)

okay
37GC avalible
30GC: wormhole from 0522 to 2111, finalizing my plans for 2011.
7GC: bank

and here is the wormhole map. including my last wormhole in green.

Crystocene: 5 small Gas Giants (25 GC) (I think I counted out the proper Amount of spots. If not, put as many as possible
Bank: The rest (Depending on me counting well: 8) Also, 20 + 11 + 3 =/= 33, but rather 34

As for Guess... Tomorrow. :)
