No one in particular. It was supposed to be a personification of Fascism. Really very much a counter part to the statue of liberty. That sounds intresting. Who would it have represented ?

I've yet to find a picture of it, but I know construction began on "The Idol of Fascism" in Italy, the plans called for it to be three times the size of the Statue of Liberty.
That's gotta be BS.
The construction business in Italy is owned by the mob. I wouldnt be surprised.
There's no evidence of that, and the mafia has never been linked with Fascism, always working against it, like Lucky Luciano in WW2.
There is plenty of evidence, just watch a few Italian documentaries regarding the modern day mafia in Italy. They practically own the construction business. And they dont really care about what the symbol might be for as long as it gets them money. Such an ambitious project would certainly cost a hefty sum.
The Mafia was essentially driven out of Italy, with only minor reminents in Sicily during the Fascist era, such a large project would be undertaken throught the "corporations" of the Italian syndicalist economy. There is plenty of evidence, just watch a few Italian documentaries regarding the modern day mafia in Italy. There is no evidence of the mafia linked to Fascism. The mafiosi were working against Fascism, and vice versa.

I don't have a link, I'll try to find where I read it, but construction was cancelle almost immediately after it started due to the onset of WWII.
I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of what was posted in this thread was eventually built. (Not including the death star)
And I say that's a load of crock!
As such I propose a wager:
From this list of buildings I wager that no more then one will be completed in the next 10 years.
Russia Tower
Las Vegas Tower
Green Bird
The Chicago Spire
Dubai Towers - Dubai
The Mubarak Al-kabil Tower
Libeskind proposal for St. Petersburg (provided it's over 300m)
Tsui's "Utlima Tower"
The Shenzhen Tower
At the completion of 2 buildings or 10 years the losing party will be made to have a truely concessionary avatar/title/location/sig scheme (or equivalent if site changes format) for no less then 2 months.
Have we a bet?

All, right the 10 years starts with this post!
Perfection, bring it on!

I want to take constructionist, deconstructionist & structuralist architecture and burn it all to the ground.
