Define "The shortest God thread opening post and poll, with the longest threadtitle on CFC-OT "

The easiest definition is by example: this one.

I'm gonna bet the vast majority of people here haven't heard it (in fact, I don't think I've ever heard it said back to me). What's it all mean? That we are so old.

I'd never heard it. It certainly earned a chuckle from me.

Are we talking about the hypothetical existence of some sort of supernatural force/presence/diety/mayonnaise in general, or God from the Bible? Changes my answer.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. I just assumed the OP meant any sort of deity and voted yes.

Yes, the OP means any kind of God.

If I had focused on a particular one, chances are I'd have voted no as well.
I need specifics man! Or else how am I supposed to vote accurately according to my position?
Your position: you're in it :)

edit: Someone please kill the xmas smileys!

Groan. That is so old. It is so much better when the person is also an animal activist.

My mother told me that one some twenty-odd years ago, which of course I didn't get at the time. Some jokes never go out of style. :)

(Note: Don't forget that dyslexic devil-worshipper get awesome presents as they routinely pray to Santa.)

You have to go deeper! I can't vote if there isn't at least a wall or two of text explaining your philosophical conundrum in depth. Also at least three in text citations, and four sources for your bibliography, one of which must be scholarly. This paper's worth 100 points and is due next Tuesday on my desk. GET CRACKIN

Not long ago I would have voted "yes", but now I'm a solid "no". I simply don't see enough evidence for the existence of a deity for it to warrant any further consideration on my part.

I don't understand this. The limitless possibilities for a deity (or deities) or supernatural force are beyond our imagination, understanding, and comprehension.

Yes, the notion that there is one God who has such a laughable inferiority complex that he condemns anyone who doesn't agree with him to eternal misery is hardly worth considering. The possibility of the Abrahamic God can be easily dismissed out of hand.

But for all we know, "God" is an entity which we cannot possibly understand, comprehend, or know of in humanity's current feeble state. "God" could be a hivemind of intelligences which created the universe and established its fundamental principles, then promptly sat right back down and ate potato chips for the rest of time. Or we could be a collection of miniscule insignificants created by a higher form of species, like a bunch of ants. How can you possibly dismiss any and all possibilities of a higher being(s)?

Ok.

Agnosticism, by Ziggy: Oh, I don't know. Perhaps maybe. Or not. Who knows? Nobody. So yeah.

3 citations:
I see a woman comin'
I see ya layin' on your back
For the birth of pleasure
I see you on the right track
Free is free
You ain't supposed to be
Now don't rely on no man
Try to argue instead
I said find yourself first
And then your talent
Work hard in your mind
Go come alive
And proove to the man
Your as strong as him
In the eyes of god

- Book of Jimmy, Message to the Universe, verse III (I don't stutter)

But if you pray
all your sins are hooked upon the sky
Pray and the heathen lie will disappear
Prayers they hide
the saddest view
And your prayers they break the sky in two
You pray til the break of dawn
And you'll believe you're loving the alien

- Book of David, Loving the Alien, verse III

Wellllll...
He's not very handsome to look at.
And he eats just like a hog.
And he's always drinkin' my beer up.
Hey Pauly the beer drinkin' dog.

- Book of Agnostic Front, Pauly the Dog. Complete.

What's a bibliography?

A bibliography is at the end of your paper, where you list all your references. Another way to say works cited, or at least, that's how I've used it in the past.

Anyways, you've earned an 85/100 and a vote. Which gets knocked up to an A+ because you didn't procrastinate until the day before. GOOD JOB

What's a bibliography?
It's a page at the end of your paper with a large picture of Bilbo Baggins' face. I forget how it became the norm for American research papers, but it is what it is.

One of these answers I knew, the other I didn't :)

I'll take the vote though \o/

edit: By the way, interesting poll results.

Strictly speaking, I doubt there are really any true atheists in the world. I think we all agree that it's possible we're wrong, and that the probabilities of if we're wrong or not cannot be calculated. Technically, I'm agnostic because I don't know for fact god(s) doesn't/don't exist. But I'll go ahead and consider myself an atheist anyway because I reject any concept of deities until I've been shown a reason to believe otherwise. I'm not going to hide behind some veil of unknowability because things are possible. Russell's Teapot and all.

What else would you consider yourself? It's simply the answer to the question "Do you believe in god(s)?" I see no further implications. I also don't think motivation makes a difference. Whether it's from having never heard of the concept, apathy or not seen any evidence yet.

edit: What's a true atheist?
