When people refer to something obvious, they often say "water is wet."

Is there any case where water can be dry?

^Following the model set by the mathematical demonstration that women are evil, I can say
ice = frozen water
dry ice = dry frozen water
QNED

a) Women take time and money.
b) Money is the root of all evil.
c) Time is money.

women = time × money
women = money × money
women = evil

See? QNED.

Well about dry water:
Ice is the obvious answer but it's a bit more difficult as there are amorphous states of ice like in glaciers and due to surface effects ice in nature tends to have at least some kind of wet surface.
As a fun fact: there are 17 known cristalline modifications of H2O.

An example where H2O is referred to as dry is snow in the concept of winter sports. When the air is only just below 0C the snow produced has most of its water still in the liquid phase, though there is enough ice to give it effectively solid properties. This is referred to as wet snow,. When the air is very cold the snow produced has very low water content and is very low density and does not stick together. This is rubbish for snowballs but perfect for skiing and is referred to as dry snow.

What's my likelihood of dying per million miles driven?
Depends entirely on where you're driving. If you take vacations in Death Valley then your outlook probably isn't good. On the other hand, if you drive back from work on a private road then I wouldn't worry too much

I'm just wondering about the statistics

Its for an argument w my friend about whether scooters are worth the risks.

Supposedly scooters/motorcycles are 80x more deadly per mile than cars.

I try to mitigate risk w wearing a helmet and neon yellow vest and being very careful

I think the enjoyment from 1000s of hours on a 2-wheeler on the road vs stuck in a car is worth the greater potential death risk

So if something is [poop], it's bad. But if it's "the [poop]" it's good. How did that happen :confused:

English is a beautiful language of contradictions

Language is a tool. But it's a tool which doesn't fit all situations perfectly. So people keep changing it to fill the needs they need it to fill. Which ends up with some really weird [poop] going on.

How does whatsapp work if you do not have their murder app? I do not use whatsapp, or have the app on my phone but I think I was added to a whatsapp group, and without knowing I replied using normal SMS. Now I am getting loads of SMS messages with US numbers. I am fairly sure these are coming over the SMS band, not http, so are not free to send. I hope the people in the states are not paying international SMS rates, I am less worried if Zuckerberg is, I think he can afford it. It would also be better if 90% of them were not the text "Loved an image" with no image.

This should not be working at all.
I quickly checked, this rather seems to be an iMessage thing, https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/9cn70g/disable_iphone_likedloved_an_image_in_text/ .
