I never saw the Deadpool ones, but I like Free Guy as a surprisingly good comedy action film.

Can you name one good movie where he is the star? (imo the Deadpool ones aren't good, but even if you identify them as such, can you name one movie apart from them that is good?) :)
The key to enjoying movies like his is to turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

TBH, throwing the X-Men into the multiverse will not make this any less nonsensical. At least there'll be an explanation where the heck all the freaks are coming from.
I guess I'll not watch that one.
I won't drag this thread down with a lot of superhero talk, and I've written about it in the Superheroes thread anyway, but I don't think the X-Men are a good fit for the MCU.
Ryan Reynolds is a cool guy, but not a good actor :/
Yeah, I agree. If he was better at picking roles, he could go pretty far with his "rogueish schmuck" routine, which he's pretty good at. Free Guy and The Adam Project were both pretty meh, though.

I liked the Deadpool movies, but other than those, no. Someone told me Buried (2010) is okay, but I haven't seen it. He was one of the few things I didn't loathe about Blade: Trinity (2004), along with Jessica Biel's arms & shoulders. He was kind of workshopping his Deadpool in that movie.

I think it pretty much has to be a multiverse story, yes. They've announced Secret Wars, which will almost certainly be an adaptation of the 2015 story and not the 1984 story, and have already begun to set it up - for example, introducing the concept of "incursions" in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. I'd wager Fantastic Four, the reboots of characters from the Netflix series, and the introduction of a new actor playing T'Challa will be parallel-universe stories too, each for their own reasons.
That sounds promising. I'm just sad to see the old Wolverine go

Hugh Jackman is now too old to play wolverine, that's why he wanted to be killed off in Logan.
It's like how Brent Spiner wanted Data killed off after Star Trek Generations or First Contact, but they didn't kill hum off before Nemesis.

Why is Siobhan pronounced so differently from what it is written as?
Is it an irish name that used other characters originally or something?
From what I've noticed, there are a lot of names and words from that region of the world that sound nothing like they're spelled.

Yes. Similarly to the Old Irish name Toirdhealbhach, pronounced "Turlo".

That's what happens when monks try to transcribe a foreign language phonetically using Latin characters - the letters don't mean the same as they do in English.

I did also deliberately mention the worst example I could think of! For a lesser example of this, check out the Scots Gaelic name Maol Choluim, which became "Malcolm".

Yes it's an Irish name.
The Si at the start is more like shi, bh is pronounced as a v and the a should have an accent.
Shivaun would be a better spelling.
Irish people get these wrong sometimes too.

My personal favourite is still the 2-part surname (something like Tolmech-Tolmech, I need to check it out as it was on QI years ago) where the parts are identical but pronounced differently because they came from different branches of an inbred noble family.

By the way, is "Mare" an actual name people give to their female children? (saw it in some tv show).
Why? Does it mean anything other than a female horse? :(

Yes. Similarly to the Old Irish name Toirdhealbhach, pronounced "Turlo".
There was a guy on here a few years ago who posted a screenshot of his Crusader Kings game, which contained a character called "Ó Flaithbheartaigh", asking if the game had glitched when generating the name. He didn't realise it was just the Gaelic spelling of "O'Flaherty".
