Gulf of America only appears on Apple and Google maps if you are in the US. Map names are typically driven by the location of your device settings.
That's what I mean, in neutral places (like Canada) it shows up as Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America), whereas in the U.S. or Mexico it defaults to the name used in each country and excludes the brackets.
My question is.. What happens if 3 countries have their own name for a geographical location and you're viewing it from another i.e. neutral location? If Cuba calls this bay the Gulf of Cuba, and you're looking at the map from Canada, do they show 2 things in brackets? I can't think of a good existing example of this sort of thing so I can check it. You'd think it exists somewhere.
