I've played Civ V since it came out. I only just reached the point where it feels played out for me.

I purchaced Civ VI when it came out, but only played a few games before going back to Civ V (just because I was more in the mood for a game where I knew all the strategies than one where I was learning all the strategies).

I'm thinking of buying the Platinum edition on the Steam sale, rather than the Anthology. Looking at description of the Anthology, it looks like all it really adds (to Platinum) is maybe a dozen added civs, and that it's those dozen added civs that account for the difference in price between Anthology and Platinum. I can live without extra civs.

Or would I be missing something else important if I only go with Platinum?

Can you home compost bones?

Well... yes... I mean that depends on when you want to use the compost. I think the bigger bones will just take a long time.

Chicken, mostly. Maybe the occasional pork chop or ham bone.

General recommendation is to avoid putting meat waste (including offal / bones) into home composting bins.

Chicken bones might be just about OK*, but any longbone from a larger mammal will take a significant time to rot unless you break it into smaller pieces (=more surface area) first. And while you're waiting for compost to happen, you may well also attract (more) visitors that you'd perhaps rather not have in your garden, such as rats and coyotes.

*I have buried the corpses of small birds (found in my garden, cause of death usually unknown) into my compost bin, and found no trace of them when I emptied that section later. Chickens are bigger than sparrows, though.

Can you home compost bones?

Yes, you can, but fresh bones might attract "larger than insects" animals to your compost heap. Maybe even neighborhood dogs that should not eat chicken bones.

I have been sent a weird spam email from an account that is an exact calque of a friend's, but with a different domain name, and it addresses me by a more-or-less correct name, i.e. my address without any capitalisation or spaces.

Should I assume that my friend's account has been hacked?

Yes.

It's a bit weird. I've just been checking and there's a few more messages over the last few weeks from that fake account while my friend and I have actually been in communication.

Not hacked probably, but they have access to their address book probably. From the address book they guess your name, giving results like "my address without any capitalisation or spaces", and send you spam thinking you are more likely to open it thinking it come from your friend. If you have an gullible/vulnerable co-friends it may be worth warning them, but there is very little you can do.

No, no, it's a different account. The same local-part but at a different domain. His actual account seems to be working fine.

This sounds like the most likely explanation. The best I can do is warn him.

Why would it need to be changed if everything's still okay?
Fine, I need to admit that I know nothing about cars, but my last one neared 20 years and the battery wasn't changed in the roughly 6 years I owned it.

They become weaker, and more prone to failure, as they get older. In cold weather they are more likely to fail when old. And that means you can get stranded in a winter storm.

In youtube, can you block all comments on all people's videos, by a specific person? That is, is there anything analogous to the forum option for "ignore"?
Googled a bit, but only found how to block them from (apparently) posting comments on your own videos, but I am interested in not seeing their comments on other people's videos

Or a word that's in all of their posts, but doesn't tend to appear otherwise. I don't know if youtube posters have signature lines, but the "humani" in my signature (here) would effectively block posts from me without blocking much else.

I don't think this will work - but also would create other problems when their username is just too common ^^

A site I looked on online said there is no way to do what you want "without third party software" (without specifying what they had in mind). But you could poke around for a program that allows you to achieve what you want.

I have a glass jar filled with hard candies. The candies partly melted and are all stuck together in a big lump which is also stuck to the jar. Any tips on getting them out? (I don't care about salvaging the candies; I just want the jar so I can re-use it!)

I ran some hot water in it and tried poking at them with a butter knife but that only got a few of them out.

A quick Google suggests this method, but it will take some time. Other suggestions mention cornstarch or vinegar, but I have no idea if they would work. The main thing is to melt the candy so you can pour or scrape it out. I'd be very careful about microwaving the jar, since it might not be microwave-safe.

Vinegar seems to be the go-to solution for cleaning anything, but I'd recommend researching it before trying it. The only vinegar solutions I've ever used are for cleaning hard water buildup on the cat's dishes.
