Trump Assassination Attempt.

Why does no one think that this guy got a lucky shot that didn't turn out to be as lucky as it could be?

Thomas Matthew Crooks
, the shooter in the failed assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, wrote on the popular gaming platform Steam that “July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds,” a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

The source did not elaborate on timing or whether there were other posts.

So far, the shooter's motivation seems to be roughly school shooter diverted due to political season.

His curtain call, too.

I wonder how it will make Trump feel that he wasn't really singled out for assassination because of anything about him, but just that it would make a big splash.

Probably just reaffirms his ego. Dave Chappelle remarked once that he (Chappelle) was famous, but Bill Clinton was so famous that a woman got famous (like world famous, household name famous) just by...uh....not having sexual relations with him in the Oval Office.

This is a similar thing.

That whole situation was always utterly confusing to me. I mean, yes, he cheated on his wife. But like, he is the president of america. Why was everyone so outraged at the fact that the most powerful man on earth used that power to get laid?
Over here in Europe we'd have given him a short applause and gotten on with life. Just look at Berlusconi or hot for teacher Macron.

Tell me you make women uncomfortable without telling me you make women uncomfortable

In the US right wing conservatives and Christians get all bent out of shape by sexual infidelity.

It's often a pretty decent measure of who is not trustworthy.

My wife wants me to wear a mini pad on my ear when I go out in solidarity with Trump!

So Jimmy Carter is your favorite president?

Yeah, nah. Stick with the singular "I" instead of the invisible demographic that is "we".

The big problem at the time was that he lied about it, in an official response before Congress. This was also the peak of the moral majority type stuff.

Used to. Now there's so much else to worry about they're fine settling for a serial adulterer.

So Jimmy Carter is your favorite president?
Nah, he lusted in his heart. :p

Carter is my favorite ex president. He did kinda start crushing the union movement in what was it, Decatur or something? If have to go back and read.

Like him as a man tho, yes.

Yeah, nah. Stick with the singular "I" instead of the invisible demographic that is "we".
It's just a general observation that in Europe we are far less prudish about these things. Hence my two examples. I mean, sure, cheating on ones wife and lying about it is not exactly nice. But it's not OMG throw him out of power and make him an unperson sort of territory. And if my memory serves at the time the media coverage here of america, limited as it was, certainly looked like that was the direction.

Has anyone read about the secret service using drones for surveillance or having anti-drone measures in place? Seems as if they are a generation of tech behind.

You're getting dunked on enough here, so to perhaps highlight an aspect that people are assuming but not saying explicitly: Sex requests from employers/authority figures may come with consequences for refusal and this causes consent issues. Does that help explain peoples concerns?

Again, stick with the "I" when trying to define what you think is "prudish".

Yeah, this verse popped into mind.

While some disagree, the balance of current thinking seems to be that the church will be gone before these events. A more interesting question is whether or not God saved Trump. Some think that everything that happens is directly ordered by God. Certainly, God is never surprised. He knows all because He is in all, the past, present, and future. I read an article this more from someone who seemed offended that God would save one person and let another die. I guess he is in the camp that God is hands off to this world.

The likely answer is that while God is always present, His interventions are not always discernable. I find it more profitable to look back over the years and see the hand of God at work and less so in the heat of the moment.

:lmao:
:rotfl:

Yeah, there are plenty of rational people who aren't impressed by all this. They'd prefer that your god help the people who really need help.

Why are people (I mean media and politicians, I posted such) seriously giving religious interpretations to all this? Is there any other country in the "west" where this could happen to such an extent?

In any group of political supporters, you'll find some who give religious interpretations to just about anything their Adored Beloved Leader does. It's actually pretty nauseating, reading some of the comments on my premier's FB page. You'd think someone had canonized her for the "miracle" of attending every rodeo this summer, prancing around in multiple cowboy/cowgirl costumes, and flipping pancakes. How that squares with ignoring the actual problems that don't take a break over summer (or escalate during summer) seems to escape them.

In the US right wing conservatives and Christians get all bent out of shape by sexual infidelity.

Seems a bit hypocritical, given how so many of them actually commit sexual infidelity.

My wife wants me to wear a mini pad on my ear when I go out in solidarity with Trump!
Wat.

We just need to get enough people calling it that and it will disappear right quick.

I'm not sure where you got that from what I posted, but yeah he can; at least out of context. Matthew chapter 4.

There's a sizable portion of conservatives in the US today that have entirely abandoned doing what the Christian faith says, so long as they go through the motions and hate the things they are told to hate. Many of these people are even claiming that Trump is, or at least may be, sent by God to do God's work, despite the fact that Trump himself is the least godly president the US has ever had. But Trump was willing to throw these failed Christians some policy wins in order to buy their support. So now someone takes a shot at Trump, and clearly, in the minds of some, God protected Trump.

But when all is said and done Trump is basically just a conman and fraudster who doesn't give a flying fudge about God or what God wants. And the Republican party is perfect for that. Because the Republicans, taken as a whole, are basically just conmen and fraudsters who don't give a flying fudge about God or what God wants.

The Republican party is the antiGod party. With the whole of their program essentially the polar opposite of what God told them to do.

So seeing people quote scripture in Trump's defense or praise is.... Disgusting, reprehensible, vile.
