What is your motto?

"All barriers broken, all bridges burnt."

Edit: Also:

"Fear your own lie."

"Mihi Est Orbi Universo" - It is my destiny to rule the world.

"It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail."

*Drum roll*

"Fools think with emotions, geniuses think with reason"

Don't commit a felony or accidentally have children.

"Always say yes to adventure"

"La Donna e Mobile"
Spoiler :
Italian, Woman is fickle

In all seriousness, probably either "Fear is the Mind-Killer" or "Let the dice fall as they may".

"Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
"those who think that they can draw meaningful lessons from history don't know crap about context"
tits or gtfo
excellent choice sir

motto:

one (two)
win (for you)
three (four)
win (some more)
five (six)
win (for kicks)
seven (eight)
win (it's great)
nine (ten)
win (again)
again
again
again
again

"those who think that they can draw meaningful lessons from history don't know crap about context"

Those who make sweeping generalisations are often wrong. As an example, one of our most famous generals of the last half-century was Vice-Chancellor of a university where many of his students were protesting against nuclear weapons, partly on the grounds that we would never need them as, essentially, 'any war between great powers today would be so costly that nobody would be stupid enough to start one'. He advised them to go and read Thucydides.

If I had to pick a motto, it would have to be my 'tribal' one, of course. Ready for Anything!

so this post read like you were proving my point except at the end when you mentioned thoukydides

as though you would have to read some random greekfag to know that people are stupid

"There's not a single motto that has all of the answers."

An extreme example perhaps, but the point stands. We can often refute 'good ideas' by saying 'that doesn't work - they thought that in ___ and it didn't hold up!'

weren't you the one who said that generalizations are bad

seems like you're directly contradicting your own post
