What would removing soda from your diet do for you?

I gave up on regular soda, and eventually gave up on diet soda as well. Going to diet didn't help my weight, and neither did drinking water. All these experts are full of doody (I can't use the word I'd like to use here). They say not to drink diet drinks because the sweetness in them makes your brain crave more food. If that's the case, why didn't I lose weight when I switched to drinking water?
Your diet made up for the displaced sugar in other areas, just not the right ones for you.
A lot of substances build physical and psychological dependence than just those that are typically classed as drugs, I notice.

Like in Supersize Me, didn’t he go through withdrawal after he stopped eating McDonald’s?

It seems soda can have a similar effect, the caffeine doing its part to hook people.

So can bread and milk, as it turns out.

Absolutely nothing, considered I removed it several years ago. It started out as me just not feeling like drinking it, then I just kinda didn't want to break the streak.

It probably wouldn't do very much. I only drink soft drinks two to four times a week, usually if I eat out or with certain meals at home. Used to, when I ate out, I'd drink four or more glasses of Coke. About a year or two ago, I started ordering water AND Coke and split drinking both, so I decreased my Coke intake by about half. I didn't really notice a difference. I easily drink more water, milk, or tea than I do soft drinks, so I don't feel guilty about indulging myself on occasion.

For me it depends on if the question is "soda" or "sugary drinks", the latter including fruit juices. For the former, the difference would be pretty non-significant, as I only have about one soda per week. For the latter, it might add up to something noteworthy if I were trying to lose weight.

But if I hadn't consumed any fruit juices over the past 4-5 years, in addition to perhaps lacking Vitamin C, the lost calories may have resulted in losing weight that it was best not to lose.

However, at my own apartment milk and water are the staples of late.
