Which Movies Have You Seen Lately? V for Five

Just saw Black Swan in theaters.

Damn, I'd never think a movie about a ballerina could be so disturbing and so good at the same time.

I'm not going to sleep well tonight.

I wanted to see that, but none of the theaters in the city had it. So instead the krew and I watched (the?) Warrior's Way. I was pleasantly surprised.

Jackie Brown- After I finished watching it I just sat on the couch for 30 minutes thinking about how good the movie is. Haven't done that in a long time.

10/10

I finally saw I, Robot with Will Smith. It was very good. A little over the top with the hero's attitude, but that did make it funny. And the plot was right on, I must say - that's the problem with computers, they do what you say, not what you meant.

I wanted to see that, but none of the theaters in the city had it.

Yeah, my friend and I had to drive all the way down to the city to find a theater that had it. And we were lucky that we bought tickets ahead of time, both showings of the movie were sold out.

The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers

I highly recommend it.

Somebody here mentioned "The Last Legion". I checked it out and decided to watch it.

It was a... meh. It was filled with clichés and whenever someone was about impaled, they jerked the camera away.

In fact... It barely had any blood in it, for a movie that had a lot of fighting.

I also watched Stoic recently, in an attempt to watch a Uwe Boll movie that I may actually enjoy.

Spoiler :

I didn't. I think it was the bit where guy gets raped by a broomhandle that I totally gave up on the film.

Uwe Boll and enjoyable? Fat chance. :)

Valhalla Rising - More about being atmospheric than delivering a story with a goal, and how I interpret it - concerning freedom and human motivations. Beautifully filmed, but a bit slow and very open to interpretations.

Match Point - Good movie, but not a favorite.. 7/10.

Per a review here in this thread, I decided to go watch Jackie Brown.

Man that movie rocks :D

I also saw Legends of the Guardians of Ga Hoole. It had some of the "typical themes" that adventure-genre movies tend to have, but it wasn't overly cliché. I liked the use of Owls as characters :) Lol Owl-wrestling...

My wife and I saw 500 days of Summer on Thanksgiving. Pretty enjoyable and light-hearted for a film about a failed relationship.

Watched "land of the dead". I somehow missed it when it came out. Anyway I thought I saw all possible zombies there are (against my will most of the time, my cousin is a zombie nut), but organized thinking zombies... well that's too much. I guess the overuse of the "zombies!" plot does that. Makes smart zombies, maybe we'll see talking zombies later? maybe even procreating zombies, who knows? :crazyeye: I mean how much originality can you expect here?

AGAIN those ever hurting the logic scenes where walking zombies catch running people who had a head start!? Do they run in circles until zombs catch up? This particular one always hurt my head in EVERY zombie movie. :deadhorse:

AGAIN those super silent ninja zombies who somehow manage to sneak on all non and semi essential characters and bite off a big chalk of... well whatever they can with their super sharp shark jaws :ninja: All this while a character screams while observing the process of a hand being bitten. Apparently in those moments they all lose their primitive reflexes that should have made them pull the damn hand back or punch it in the face (it works differently in people, run or fight reflexes)! I mean those zombies aren't exactly cobras or any other fast biting snakes. :wallbash:

AGAIN those paradox moments where some zombies suddenly learn to run (while they could barely walk the rest of the movie) in certain scenes and/or grab and take down people like American football players (while again they were so clumsy, they could barely walk before). This often in conjunction with people running in circles... [pissed]

Uh I could go on... I just realized that I don't at all enjoy zombie movies. In fact they piss me off. My cousin managed to make me watch all those movies, but enough is enough. Gonna have a talk with my cousin.
