This. I don't care how progressive someone is, when you learn that you missed the cutoff for several thousand dollars your lizard brain kicks in and makes you grumpy.

Yes, but the same will happen at whatever point in the future when you install tuition-free education, and the same thing happens right now with any state-provided or -funded or -subsidised service such as education or healthcare.
Getting decent olives is expensive here.
Did you try those rubbery black olives bottled in brine that a lot of UK supermarkets sell? Possibly the worst thing to eat that you are actually meant to eat.
These are what I eat, they're delicious as heck. I don't have much reference for whether or not they're expensive, but they're not too much to be a luxury.

I dunno, free higher education doesn't trigger the same level of grumpiness in my lizard brain that straight-up student loan debt forgiveness triggers.

That's one of the best ideas I've heard come out of your mouth (fingertips)... and that's saying alot , since I like so many of your ideas. What a great way of selling student loan forgiveness.
It is obviously good there is an openly gay candidate, but it still seems to be a ploy/non-issue. He clearly won't get elected, and neither does he represent any positive policy change. His sexuality is, therefore, not relevant in the larger picture.
That said, it could have been a lot worse. At least now he is tied to some policy, though it is the same establishment crap.
They endorsed someone because of sexuality, thats like voting for people because they have blue eyes or brown hair. Oh wait, he has blue eyes and brown hair.
I Googled "LGBTQ Victory". Google description for their website reads as "Representation is power. We provide LGBTQ leaders with the training and skills necessary to run for office and win." Supporting Buttigieg seems consistent with that mission statement.
Does it count as ‘homophobia on display’ when people vote for a candidate simply because the opponent is homosexual?
Does it count as ‘racism on display’ when people vote for a candidate simply because the opponent is black Kenyan?

Seems dumb tho I don't see how it it "phobic" in any way.
Judging people by the content of their hearts (and policy proposals) is a much better idea.
Funny I was just reading about less than half of Asians support Yang. Asians are very practical, they're not gonna vote for someone unless they feel their interests are supported.
