I'd rather have no tickets for smoking OR drinking on the street. land of the free my ass.

although I can actually understand it more for smoking, at least smoking has secondhand smoke as a negative factor - what's drinking? oldschool puritan morality? drinking is a sin and nobody should see you do it in public? public drunkenness is fine, that can stay ticketed/illegal but open container for a legal adult is loads of bull. change my mind? I don't even drink except at home so no dog in this fight it just doesn't make sense to me.
Before you edited in you public drunkenness save, I was going to bring that up. People pissing and vomiting in the street are just demonstrations of the freedom we love.

So let me ask: what are the benefits, or value or other good things about drinking in public beyond "freedom"? Like you I am not a drinker, so it is not an important issue in my life.

Freedom is a pretty damn good value in and of itself so unless you can supply me some tangible reasons why it should be restricted, I'm not accepting the restrictions as valid.

Only thing I can think of is potential for more street crime like muggings or street fights instead of bar fights. But that doesn't seem like it would change much from walking out into the street from a bar. Maybe it was introduced to be an anti-homeless measure?

edit: I suppose harassment of other people in public from drunk people could also be an issue. Seems more realistic/common and maybe more of a valid reason for the restriction, but I know many European countries allow it.

In principle I agree but like at that point I wouldn't really care enough to want to work to change it, it's not like I commonly walk around drinking

One less arbitrarily enforced law which lets the cops punish the poor and marginalised for existing

Yeah I'm not gonna march in the street about it but I'd definitely vote for its repeal.

I can see that. :)

Back during Prohibition when alcohol was illegal, the Feds poisoned industrial cleaning alcohol so people wouldn't drink it.

10,000 people died and lots more went blind.
That is where the term "blind drunk" came from.

I'm not sure who your "They" is, but....

There are several parts to the Biden is losing his mind story.
  • When supporters of the 88 year old guy say the 86 year old guy is to old and gone to be president, well, there is something wrong there.
  • We can anticipate 7 more months of "Biden is senile" every day from Trump who also not all there.
  • More repetitions will not change anyone's mind.
  • Discussion of Biden's and Trump's mental state are fair game even on CFC
  • Most American's will tune the issue.
My personal objection to K's comments has been pretty clear. It involves several parts:
  • He does not actually want to discuss anything
  • He has been posting his anti Biden stuff to fan divisiveness among democrats as his entertainment
  • He claims to love Bernie, but doesn't enter into support Bernie discussions
  • We (US) do not need more drive by bomb throwers whose sole goal is to be disruptive. We can do that on our own thank you.
If he were a US voter with skin in the game I'd give him a pass, but he is not. He has been a useless agitator in our political discussions. The problem isn't that he is anti Biden; The problem is that he has been trying to stir up conflict between democrats.

This is an important election and the less outside interference the better.

Adcarry said it all, already.
The projection is strong with some people. But despite myself not being into SJW culture, you should really tone down the bizarre attempt to prevent others from saying their view. I am not here to do anything for you, or anyone else. I post cause I feel like it, so you'd do well to respect that.

You realize that presenting blanket, uniform, unflattering stereotypes of generational age groups to make such slanderous and false attacks is no different than doing so based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, or social class. It's exactly the same phenomenon.
And I honestly couldn't care less :)

Also, Yang endorsed Biden tonight. Turns out he was just a grifter trying to get his piece of the pie. All these principles advocating for UBI and making a promise to endorse only the candidate who makes UBI a part of their platform? Ha ha. Poor yang gang is crying on Twitter about this "betrayal", but it was clear from the start he was just trying to advance his career.

Everyone has a price.

Because drinking casually in the street, like smoking, is not supposed to be a norm. It is a kind bad example thing, which affects people more than one might think, particularly kids. That is also a reason why drinking and smoking affects film ratings.

Looks like dems sealed 2nd term for Trump. Never mind what they say about the need to unite - the establishment made it perfectly clear that they don't want to have anything to do with Sanders or any of his policies. This divide is likely to bury any democrat candidate.

What I don't understand is why nearly everybody gave up their political views and endorsed Biden? They can't all be crystal clear 100% hypocrites, telling people whatever they think will get them elected.

Trump will get a second term, the Democrats will blame Bernie and shift evermore to the right, learning nothing at all.

If Bernie's supporters turn out and Trump wins it's on Biden.

If Bernie voters torpedo Biden its on them.
