Altered Maps XII: Not to Scale

Something I found at alternatehistory.com:

The guy complains about the USA having too many states, France is something like 15 times smaller than Australia and is divided in 26 regions, 101 departments, 8000 inter-municipal councils and 36000 municipalities.

We have more elected people than India, and we pay them all. :smug:

Great map. I approve of fewer states.

Hello Marla!

Hey Birdjaguay, I was just giving a glance on CFC to get an idea of what was being said on the other side of the pond in these days.

Over here, the country turned as a socialist hell. I'm fed up to be surrounded by commies.

"Real balkans" maps always are fun :)

Pretty sure the guy who made the above does not like Bulgaria...
Actually it is a strange map even for this trope. Why give Fyromia some towns to the south when you have obliterated Bulgaria? He must be Romanian, judging from the emblem used there :D

I hate real balkan maps. But that one is just awful. At least some have aesthetics and a theme, but thats just extremely bad.

The emblem used for Romania is the coat of arms that was used ever since communism fell, instead of this abomination:

The eagle is posted on basically every official document/ID card/coin etc.

Also, it's very unlikely the map maker was Romanian since that's a very minor part of the current territorial claims and because there isn't a crater in the place of Hungary.

I played an interesting game of HOI2 recently. As Communist Germany, I was so fed up with the Balkan mess that I united Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece and Cyprus in the Federal Socialist Republic of the Balkans.

Life's so much simpler now. I wish I could add Hungary in it.

I love the oil derrick.

Well, i found this too, this time (most likely) made by a Bulgarian (maybe a Greek too, though) :

I suppose it is a bit based on the Czar Symeon Empire of Bulgaria territory (which ended and got annexed by Basil II). A better looking border, although again Thessalonike is a border region :/ (in fact in that map the northern side of it appears to be borderland anyway...).

Considering that the map says ''Great Hellas'' and Bulgaria doesn't have a Mediterranean coast in the map, I'd say it was made by a Greek :p

It is more likely it was made as some sort of collaboration (that site may have maps of alternate borders, don't know but the title of it seems to signify such a prospect).

Considering that Greece loses most of Macedonia to Bulgaria in that map, and gets some current Bulgarian thrace along with all Thrace in turkish hold atm ( ;) ), i suppose some Bulgarian influence exists on this map-making example :)

(let alone that Smyrna/Smirni in this map, is nowhere near its actual location, which is coastal, and Thessalonike appears to be placed in the Chalkidike peninsula...).

Nuu map! Zee empire of zee arctics! Now Esquimos are independent.
And this would not such a bad idea, since Greenland itself is achieving independence in 2020 or so..

Nunavut means 'Our land' in Inuit language, which covers this territory, so this map is not so inaccurate:

The Danes and the Canadians might be crazy enough to give these people self-government after subsidizing the hell out of them, so that they can get independent and pocket all the profits once some valuable resource happens to be found under their feet, but you can count on the Russians to give no quarter.

And are these really related ethnicities at all?
