Community Protest Against The Recent Actions of Birdjaguar

Do you agree that moderators have the right to reject applications as they see fit?

I more or less endorse this thread.

This poll achieves nothing as it is a loaded, all or nothing question, and forces the assumption that there is no grey area. If you had instead asked, are moderators allowed to reject players based on past actions, then it would be possible to understand if the community is willing to give formerly bad players, a second chance.

A moderator of the forums shouldn't tell others how to mod their NESes. But I don't think mods should have the right to reject applications "as they see fit".

This is not a platform for discussing a merger of NESing and IOT, which is largely opposed by the leaders of this community.

Leaders of the community? There are no leaders to this community.

^This.

While I think that game mods should have close to complete authority over their own games, the forum rules are there for a reason and not particularly difficult to abide by to be honest.

I voted "No" and am thus in the minority, but I really fall somewhere in the middle.

I voted No since that is the answer I think to that exact question. It says nothing about outsider moderator interference etc...

It is within the prerogative of a moderator to deny players. We might as well start insisting that positions be created for players to inhabit so that no one is ever turned away. The rejection of a certain player by a certain moderator in a certain way which may have overstepped the bounds of civility is not good grounds on which to challenge such an incredibly basic premise of the game.

Disagreed.

What's getting lost in this discussion is that the whole premise that azale rejected arya because of "hearsay" is total bullcrap. He was rejected because arya's application was awful, and his attempts to fix it barely better.

Disagreed.

I don't see how you even have the option of disagreeing with that premise. It's the basis on which all NESes are built, otherwise as I said, you might as well insist that moderators find ways to accommodate as many players as are interested. :p

Indeed. To repeat myself from WwW, I wasn't aware that arya had much of a reputation at all, one way or another.

Furthermore, how could you even make someone accept a player? A moderator is not a slave instructed to accept all players.

As far as I knew, Arya was not allowed to fix his application at all, as Azale went "Yeah, no. Don't post here again." And that was his entire response.

Is there something I'm missing?

Yeah. Arya made a couple extra posts saying that, if he was allowed to post, he is willing to work with people to help fix it. Later, he talked about toning down his submission.

Azale said he had one strike and used it, and that Arya should stay out.

Pages 7 and 8, preNES>

Arya does not generally seem very genuine in his intentions to revise his actions or his submissions. This is not an isolated event but a continuing trend. This may make life very interesting for his neighbors but it does not enhance the veracity of an NES.

I restate that, in my view, Birdjaguar's recent actions are unwarranted and outrageous.

I agree with OP and the others, the NESing community should now explicitly reject the incompetent. God knows they'll never improve or learn with the proper encouragement. We are the master race of CFC, and deserve to be treated as such! Forum rules and niceties are for the masses.
