Oh, yes; all that is indeed a factor.
I also think there is a question of balance between the rigours of lockdown and its benefits.
100 CV deaths per day may be tolerated in preference to locking down, while 1,000 CV deaths per day probably won't.
And on this there are separate triggers for the government making rules, and for the public deciding to follow those rules.

The "lie" in this context being whether this particular guy had seen cases of Ivermectin overdoses, because hey - that's the important thing, right? As the article notes, there have been hundreds of recorded cases of Ivermectin overdoses across the US in the last month. With people using horse deworming paste and being too stupid to even adjust the dose for the difference in bodyweight being the main source.
Despite how fond of the word "liar" you've become, Innonimatu, I haven't noticed you directing it at the authors of the main study that sparked the Ivermectin craze, who fabricated large chunks of their data. Although apparently not the only group to do this. There's apparently another study from Argentina that claimed Ivermectin provided 100% protection against Covid. But of course, not only don't the numbers add up, the hospital where the trials were supposed to be conducted has no record of them ever happening.
On the plus side, at least it looks like the judge's decision that he could override the doctors' expertise and order hospitals to administer ineffective treatments seems to be getting undone fairly quickly.

As I've said many times, there are things I don't need to mention here because there's a chorus readily repeating the abundant pieces in the media about those. What I feel I should point out is the lies weaved into that media onslaughts. Someone should.
It's easy to do balanced pieces on this contentious issue. Or even opposing pieces but with respect for people. Instead of shameless propaganda with whatever hyperbole comes handier. By all means question the effectiveness , and point out the damage from considering it a cureinstead of other things that also need investigation and use. But do not make up false stories about poisonings.
That seems to be asking too much from the current mainstream media.
I'm not taking it but I "support" (as in: do not oppose and reject the hysterics) its use where demanded and prescribed in safe doses. If it you will: I oppose the demonization of ivermectin which has had as a result people seeking it from veterinary supplies.
If you have any issue with that take it up with the NIH which holds a neutral position on it: neither recommend not ban. Even currently skeptic scientists who tested it (See one in that Mother Jones piece) have ran studies showing some effects, just not much. So why the hysterics about "poisoning" now? The proper way to address this polemic is to test, record and publish the results. That should get it settled. Inciting hysterics and made-up stories about "poisonings" won't. In only creates two inflamed sides fighting over it instead of sorting out its use or uselessness.
It was turned into a political circus. I mean... judges deciding whether or not a drug in safe doses is allowed to be used? Aren't there any established procedures for that already? If patients ask medications officially neither recommended for not against and approved for humans, in safe doses, can hospitals refuse? Can family represent an unconscious patient or not? For this to turn into judicial battles sometinh is crazy out there.

Uhh - yes. I doubt there is any sanely run hospital where a patient can just demand random pharmaceuticals and the doctors are required to administer them. Stop and think for a moment just how many drugs there'll be for any given condition that aren't specifically listed as for or against. In the vast majority of cases that's not "neutral" - that's "not studied". You're suggesting a patient can just ask for any one (or set) of them, and the medical experts aren't allowed to say no?
The reason that judicial decision got so much attention was the inherent arrogance and idiocy of overriding treatment decisions from the experts with ones from someone with no knowledge of medicine.

I dont think it will make a difference to be honest. but letting the public know that ivermectin has been tested multiple time and shown no effect on Delta would be the right thing to do.
Instead of pretending like its a viable scientific medical option.

So health authorities say that people should not take a certain medication because it is both ineffective and toxic and people take that medication out of Berzerker-style contrarian-ness and it's the fault of the health authorities.
Authorities should sell usual vaccine on black market under different brand name, for high price.

How is that turning out? One and a half years later covid goes on...
Wat have noble Fauci, Boula et al achieved so far? The imposition of covid upon humanity as an endemic disease, instead of an eradication effort. That is the achievement so far of what passes for "health authorities". Covid waves continue, viral mutation continues.
Find some humility. The horses you decided to bet on, the leaders you ant followed, have been the ones constantly screwing up on health decisions since the pandemic started. So why are you atill arrogantly proclaiming the truths from above? Show me the goods: what have they achieved in pandemic control so far?
Covid needs either eradication or multiple treatments thrown at it (because a single one would lead to viral escape - mass use of artificial antiobory cocktails are a tremendous folly). Instead of dismissing parallel lines of research, those must be invested on and experimented with.
The health authority that are saying it is toxic are lying. Everything is a poison depending on dose. If there is any danger in something people are trying to use against covid due to the way they're using it, have it properly provided in safe dosing. That solves the toxicity problem - it there is a problem after all. Calls inquiring about toxicity does not equal actual intoxication, and this moral panic is designed to produce such calls...I don't kno whta is actually going on but it stinks.
This is a massively available drug in veterinary use, and also very available in human use in large portions of the world. If dosing is a problem MD sould be telling people who want to try it what are the sale levels,not vainly attempt to ban it which results in people using it unsafely.

The other problem is possible ineffectiveness. But then tell me: which effective and cheap treatments are being provided to people infected with covid? Which authorities in the world and giving those treatments to people who want them?
If authorities refuse to make available treatments, if investment in treatments has not produced results after one and a half years of this pandemic being the most important issue worldwide, who is to blame? Of it effective and safe treatments do exist, are they available and cheap? IF not, why?
People in despair for something are being blamed and demonized. The victims of incompetence and greed by the regulatory and pharmaceutical authorities are being demonized and blamed. This stinks.
