Dark Continent Unit Pack

Thanks for the Zulu warrior, musketman and spearman - they're sensational :goodjob: !!

The Zebra Raider is still my favourite though ;) .

Playing Africa civs with mostly color converted units was very annoying(but much better than nothing).Thank you DPII for filling the gap:)
I know you've heard it many times(and probably get tired of hearing this) but can I join the others and ask you for an African settler and worker?I don't know, maybe you have them on your plans but with them,a basic set of Africa units will be complete for some early "Dark Continent" mods;)

Yeah... I've basically agreed to do a Settler and Worker unit... since actually, I'm working on a set of units that will utilize the same animations/characters.

Anyway, Supa, yes, I prefer Kal-El's Rhino Knight unit, but I didn't have any way to make it at that time because I didn't have a model that looked even remotely close to the costume the horse is wearing... So when I compiled my list, I decided on a Zebra Knight, which was really only different from the Zebra Rider because it had a shield and fought with a long lance rather than a javelin. I may have a way now to do the Rhino Knight though... so I'll have to play around with the models and see if it looks good.

Hoogachaka! Unitsiy-boos! YAY!

Lusikka, no, they're not that large, rather juuuust right :king:

I'm finally back online after several weeks of only using my computer for Rise
of Nations... Excellent units,... I see I'll be switching games here pretty soon!

:goodjob:

Any hints tho as to what the other two slots are?

Awesome untis and much needed. Thanks for finishing these.

Finally - Malian units! I've had a Mali/Songhai civ queued up in my mod forever, but have not actually made it, due to the lack of UUs. Now I can! Thanks!

The Songhai must have huge biceps, swinging the lance up and down like that in the default. ;) That's not the way I'd hold a 3 meter (10 feet for you metrically challenged people) stick...
A bit of (creative, hopefully) criticism: I think that the lance would be better off with some anti-aliasing. I don't know how hard that would be to do, neither do I know if it would screw up the rest of the unit, but now it looks a bit pixelated. :undecide:
Is there a reason as to why the "barding" (is that the right name? the red stuff on the horse, at least...) is that colour? Not complaining, just curious...
I like it.

Yes, he does move the spear a little wildly in the Default. I'll probably release an improved Default anim at a later time.

The whole thing is anti-aliased in Poser. The problem is the shrinking down process... SBB and later converting to 256 color tends to make it a bit more pixelated as the browns blending into the pink are basically removed.

The barding is that color because I was provided with several pictures that showed very colorful (usually red) barding such as this.

So you shrink it with SBB? Didn't know, I thought you rendered in the right size in Poser...
Cool that the barding is historically correct. :goodjob:

kewl... Dom Pedro... I've been waiting for these African units! :)
They look great! Now I will have to finish my mod so I can test them in-game...

Dom... Is it too much to ask that you add yourself to the Unit Artist's Library?
