Dawn of Civilization - an RFC modmod by Leoreth

I've pulled it off, so it's doable.

It's definitely possible to trade for cotton, incense or wine from Mongolia, Arabia or Turkey; even if they don't like you they should be willing to trade due to the UP.

Greek Confucian..
Wow o.O

Btw,
ever thought of overpowered Greek?
I often saw them super powerful by America spawn, controlling Europe and Africa coast...
Probably they collapse Rome and prevent Byzantine to spawn so they're the major power there..

And,
What if it's past 1505 and Achaemenid still alive?

IIRC I forgot to re-enable it when I uploaded 1.73.

Download and unpack this file into your Asstes\Python\ folder. If that doesn't solve the issue, report back :)

I tried using that file, but when I started a 3000 BC Rome game it didn't go into auto-run and it said I lost on the first turn. However...

This happened to me (and to some others). It seems you cannot allow tortoise to do changes to files in "C". So just SVN a folder on your desktop or your my documents folder and then copy paste it your Mods folder and rename it according to the instructions.

This worked! Thanks so much both of you. It's now very hard to decide between my original idea of a Rome game and trying the fun stuff going on in Asia.

Downloaded the SVN earlier this afternoon, and tried Indonesia. First and third goal seem achievable (even a bit too easy), but I'm puzzled by the second one.
There are 16 luxury resources in total : Singles, movies and sport events do not count as the UHV is in 1500. Same for whales. That leaves 12 resources available in the world at that time. The only wine in Asia is in Persia, so unless you're strong enough to fight the Mongols or Arabia it's not even worth trying.
You have in your territory : Sugar, Spice and Gems without going too far (a reasonable city placement is Palembang, Jakarta and that city in the west of Borneo which give you these), Dyes and Ivory are in Khmer territory (not too hard to conquer), you can have Gold and Silk if you go for the Philippines. That's 7 different resources, and you have to be quick when you go for the Philippines. You now have to get two resources between Fur, Incense, Silver and Cotton. Basically you can either go for India (but is it feasible ?), or trade for Cotton (usually possible with Mongolia) and attack Japan for Silver. IMO it's hardly feasible before 1500, and implies making ahistorical expansion. I would suggest reducing the number of resources to 7 or 8, and rising the 3rd UHV to 12 or 13%.

Also, I got near Sirajis 2 turns after it had been taken by the Mongols and there was no units in the city. The Mongols took no more cities after that, and there was no units there until a longbowman was built. I think it's strange that there was no more Mongol units in the middle east after they took Sirajis, while the area became totally barbarian (from Sana'a to Baghdad).

There's silver in southern Australia which you should be able to settle by the deadline. Also if you miss the gold in the Phillipines there's another one in Papua New Guinea. The rest of the resources you should get by trade, not by conquest.

No, adding new civs isn't possible without DLL modding. Of course it'd possible to make a RFC + Byzantines mod, but this would basically mean to implement them completely from scratch.
Thanks. :hatsoff: What about the mechanism of civ rebirth and civilization change like Rome to Italy?

Arabia collapsed, Turkey didn't take the middle east so I had no contact with them and Mongolia didn't have incense or wine in my game. Maybe I was just out of luck...

Sugar, spice and gems from spawn, gold and silver from Philippines, dyes and ivory trade from India along with cotton and incense I think and I got whales (had optics and traded around a bit)

While looking around on the forums a bit, I found this interesting sub-mod:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=17601

Puppet Rulers, how cool would that be if you could be Germany, and capture France creating a puppet leader? Or the Spanish conquering the Aztecs or Incas and setting up their own puppet leaders as well. Also I like how this mod also gives you other options when capturing the city, such as food or production, quite realistic if you ask me, and it would create some pretty interesting gameplay... ;)

I have the feeling this will cause some clash with RFC mechanics, although I didn't look at the code.I could be wrong, of course.

I believe that does not require DLL modding, except for the changed modifiers.
No, you need to modify Rhyes.cpp at least, also DoC uses a variable in the player object to store if a civ is respawned or not. I guess the latter could be done via StoredData as well, but still.

Sounds like the mod gives you the opportunity to create new vassal civs out of conquered cities - that won't fly in RFC because there are already many civs around.

Oh right. Forgot about that.

Yes.

That puppet-state thing would be cool, but as others have said, there are many civs already. Maybe we could use that suggestion from a while back that changes the civ's color to that of the master's, and uses a new leaderhead when they vassalize. For example, the Inca would turn Spain's gold color, and instead of Capac as their leader, they'd have Blasco Núñez Vela, or some other Spanish viceroy. I don't know how possible that is, but it sounds pretty cool to me.

(Don't think that I am a Byzantinophile. Byzantinophiles suck ).

Son, I am disappoint.

Thought I'd mention that when you get monarchy from a goody hut you don't found Zoroastrianism. I was glad 'cos China certainly doesn't want an other religion, but it's worth mentioning.

Leoreth can you please ask for your own sub-forum like SOi & RFCE; it would so much more productive to divide this thread into multiple threads ( like one focsing on Europe, other on East Asia, maybe game mechanics etc). It would be easier for a person to get their points across concisely and easily this way. Right now people only post suggestions for the stuff you are modding, if you have ur own sub forum, people can have multiple conversations even about stuff you are not modifying but u can easily access for future usage.

Also, I'm not entirely sure about this, but lately I've been trying to research Divine Right as the Egyptians before the Arabians spawn, and it seems like so long as I'm researching the tech at the time then the turn before they spawn I research it and found Islam, regardless of how many research turns were still remaining,

I've already done that, but getting a new subforum isn't exactly an instant process.

Are you saying that you get the tech for free before Arabia spawns as long as you're researching it?
