Monthly competitions submission thread

Yes, but the idea there was that people actually banded together in teams and produced scenarios specially for the contest. It didn't really come to anything, partly because teams work more slowly than individuals, and partly because - well - it just didn't, somehow. The idea here is simply that scenarios get judged in the same way as graphical creations. I suggested a single big vote on all existing scenarios, or at least the main ones; alternatively there could be an occasional one dealing with all those released since the last vote.

I was thinking the other day... a very dangerous undertaking... and it ocurred to me that something is missing here. Units, LHs, and PCXs, while very imporatant to the modding community, are only parts of a whole. On its own, a good piece of artwork isn't much good. It's when someone takes a bunch of pieces and puts them together to make something greater than the sum of its parts that C&C really shines.
You probably see where I'm going with this.
All the artwork in this forum exists for one reason: to be included in a MOD (or scenario). Hence, "modders". Mods and scenarios are the meat of C&C. Making a mod/scenario certainly requires as much or more skill, time, and dedication as a piece of artwork and must make use of all of the above. So why do we have competitions for each of the little pieces, and not for the final creation?

A big thanks from all the modders around :)
It's a good idea, though I don't stand a chance to win. All we need is a volunteer to start the completion. Oh, and we need to choose some categories - at least we should not have scenarios competing with mods, it would be unfair.

well... it's:
- easier to rate small individual pieces than whole mods/scenarios
- these small pieces appear to the forums more often that scenarios/mods

But I agree, great mods/scenarios require a lot of time & dedication...

There was a thread a while ago thinking about a World Cup type thing, but you could only use units/graphics/LHs etc made by people from your country...
I know about it, I posted there a lot! It was decided that it was going to go regional, and not one team for each country.

Nice!

Could I request a little picture change? Please...
I think that the picture for my mines that Flamand put in the first post looks a bit bad, with the green and pink surrounding the buildings... Could you post one that is a little more "realistic", I mean an in-game picture? Maybe the pic I posted was too big, and I know that large pics don't look good, so I made a smaller one. If you still think it's too big, I could cut a little more. Just tell me so I can do something.

I agree, mods are the most impotant thing you can download from CFC. I thought about making a mod competition, but after seeing Rob's 'Scenario World Cup' get stranded I thought the world might not be ready yet for it.
Instead I propose a large competition in December for all scenarios finished in 2006.

PS: the July competitions are closed and the August ones are opened... :)

Does this ring have any other animations than the shining? If so, you should include these in the preview to maximize your chances of winning... ;)

Other animations... let me see... oops .. it seems I forgot to make some :mischief:
Well, to tell you the truth, it's only a flag unit. I don't expect anyone to vote for this thing and I made it only for Lord of Middle Earth mod. But at least I will once have the privilege to be beside the Great Creators and Artists from this forum like you!! :)

I didn't see the use of having a vote over the LH competition if there is only one submission. So the winner by default of this month's "LH maker of the Month" competition is Hikaro Takayama's Queen Hilda of Fynn.

His is the throphy, eternal glory for this month and a honorable mentioning in the Hall of Fame. :trophy:

Congratulations Hikaro! ;)

:king: Congratulations, Hikaro. It's a great leaderhead. It looks really fun.:) :goodjob:
