NOTW XXIX: Hired Swords - Game Thread

Well with a comment like that, you should probably just share the info.

It's either a bluff to save your skin, or it's real info that we need to know, and you've just broadcasted to the bad guys and made yourself a target anyway.

"ATPG, TheLastOne simply didn't understand the implications of changing his accusation. Unfortunatly, he did not realise the proper role of a innocent. It is not to survive but to weed out the bad guys. His death now will not help us innocents."

"Also, I want both items. But Rhawn can still have the flask. The herbs I belive i have found a use for."

"TLO - I don't think you should reveal just yet."

Regarding the items. I already stated that TForge should get the herb because he already has one herb and is a wizard. The herbs seem to be something that need to be combined to be useful. If anyone will make any use of them it is he.

I(rhawn the champion) would like the flask, but if anyone has a good reason that they think they need it I might support it going to them.

Who should be put to the question tonight? I don't know. TLO seems to be bungling everything and his fate is almost written. I don't see any evidence that he is bad but he's certainly not helping anything. If you have any important information to help us, speak now or forever hold your peace TheLastOne36.

So Says the Champion

It's been suggested to me that rhawn would be a good choice for both items.

(unless he doesn't want them)

All right, apparently TLO went offline.

From where I sit, I see someone claiming to have important information, who voted for Tforge first, and then Seon to save himself. If he's a bad guy, he's as good as nailed. Rather than simply bandwagon, I'd consider tossing TheLastOne a benefit of the doubt and adding my vote to Tforge.

If Tforge is innocent, then my vote will return to TheLastOne. That's the best I can do.

"I havn't talked to him about it but I doubt that TLO's vote on TForge was based on anything other than RP. His PG was to protect DE, the lizardman (as strange as it sounds). I think his vote was based on TForge having the Herb DE needed. If DE had managed to get healed (potion) then he would have been the strongest member here."

He was willing to lynch the guy just to get his item?

Trading one innocent for another, wasting a lynch in the process, isn't a great strategy. Especially if this wizard is a valuable character.

I am putting my vote back where it belongs, on my original suspect, J-Man. The other suspects I am now finding quite underwhelming.

New information leads me to believe that TheLastOne is not a mafia, and in fact it would be a good idea to keep TheLastOne alive.

And rhawn can have the items.

"O' reahly! T'is I' throthing accusa'ions lik' a hors' i' throwin' his hair i' th' wind! I wi'to no' vot' fo' no'ne. I'm a' cowar', I kno', I kno'

My earlier accusation on Tforge was nothing but revenge ;)

unvote: Tforge vote: J-man

The Mafia would rather not have me, but there is not much that they can do about it. ;) Not to mention I'm fairly strong as I'm a dragonslayer and all.

OOC: Guys, please. This is NOTW, not mafia. Please use NOTW terminology. Mafia = Wolves until we find out what the enemies are.

Sigh. j-man should really defend himself thelastone, don't act up next time.

LURKER: I agree completely with Ekolite. Having new guys from other places is really decent, but not if they just colonize this and makes it CFC-mafia. Please respect the culture we have on this board and make the thread at least vaguely interesting to read for people who prefer the NotW RP-like rethoric to "mafia terminology". Masons, townies and mafias are words that have NO PLACE in a NotW whatsoever.

/personal opinion.

Perhaps a full list of the "correct" terminology would be helpful to those who have no idea what the equivalents are in every case.

Spoiler :
Mafia- werewolf
Town- innocent
Investigative roles- prophet
Protective roles (doctors)- ???
town-aligned killing roles (vigilantes)- ???
alignment roles (gives investigators a false result, such as a miller)- ???
Association roles (masons)- ???
Reanimation roles (Reviver)- ???

Spoiler :
Mafia - Werewolf
Townie - Innocent
Investigative Roles - Prophets
Protective Roles (Doctors) - Bodyguards (often, varies throughout games)
Alignment Roles (Gives Investigators a false result, such as a miller) - You'll have to explain that one. I'm thinking 'false Werewolves' or 'Rogue werewolves' - like Niklas in Thomas' Return to xxxx? (can't remember the name)
Association Roles (Masons) - (Most often) Ashen Veil Cultists or other Dark Priests
Reanimation Roles (Revivers) - Necromancers, Clerics or Life Mages; Often not included since many players will obtain additional info after dying (asking the GM, etc.)

Apart from using the correct terminology, please try to keep posts in character, or at least CLEARLY MARK the OOC parts of your posts. Renata's posts in my Mini-Notw II are prime examples of this. Only write OOC when absoultely neccessary.

I'm sorry if I'm being harsh on this, but my eyes hurt from all this "unvote/vote:". It is commonly accepted that bold is votes, Bold green is support and Strikethrough is cancellation. To use strikethrough, use BBCode brackets with an 'S' instead of the Bold B, Italic I or Underlined U.

I am extremely sorry to fill the thread with stuff like this but not as sorry as I would be if the NotW community here lost its unique flavour.

(Ghost post: A few corrections/additions to your list, Diamondeye.)

Spoiler :
Mafia - Werewolf
Townie - Innocent
Investigative Roles - Prophets
Protective Roles (Doctors) - Bodyguards (often, varies throughout games)

Yep to all of those, with Bodyguard the least fixed -- often those are just referred to generically as protective roles. The other three are pretty absolute.

Alignment Roles (Gives Investigators a false result, such as a miller) - You'll have to explain that one. I'm thinking 'false Werewolves' or 'Rogue werewolves' - like Niklas in Thomas' Return to xxxx? (can't remember the name)

Sort of. More typical Mafia has two roles (not always used) that give false results. The Godfather (or Alpha) is a Mafia who returns Town to a Town investigator. The Miller is a Town role who returns Mafia to a Town investigator. We use both of these roles frequently around here, but have no generic term for either. Niklas's role in that game is equivalent to a Miller: he was innocent but would have turned up as a wolf if investigated. Izipo's "evil necromancer" role in Pinman's game is another example. And we frequently have partial Godfathers -- "wolf" characters who give innocuous results to at least some of the plethora of investigators we tend to have. Full Godfathers, though, are quite rare. That's pretty much the opposite of the situation in more typical Mafia, I've gathered, in which Godfathers are quite common and Millers rarely used.

Association Roles (Masons) - (Most often) Ashen Veil Cultists or other Dark Priests

Masons are actually what we call "lovers" around here. Two or more players who each know (or are led to believe) that the other is innocent.

Reanimation Roles (Revivers) - Necromancers, Clerics or Life Mages; Often not included since many players will obtain additional info after dying (asking the GM, etc.)

Yep.

Some more roles that are common around here but for which we have no generic term:

Watcher/Tracker (can see who affects a targeted player, or who a targeted player affects)
Roleblocker (prevents the night actions of a targeted player)
Politician (can change other players' votes)
Double Voter (has an extra vote)

Actually there's tons more. But we tend just to use the name of the role as given in the player's PM, as opposed to lumping them together into categories.

I must ask the Battlemage, what is a mafia? We have traitors and possible an Illian or two, but I have never heard of this mafia. Please explain

(Ghost again: I forgot Vigilante. I don't remember us ever using that role in its full sense prior to Methos in oyzar's game. We've had one-shot innocent killers plenty of times, and there were the two somewhat controversial (heh) killing items in Chand's game, which could be and were used more than once, but I don't remember a vigilante per se before Methos. Great role, though, and again, we don't have a general term for it. Vig is probably as good as anything.)

I know you've been watching us, cindle, so why not speak up instead of hiding in the shadows?

And if sprig says he has a use for the herbs, then I support his claim on them. But I'd prefer the black flask to go to TheLastOne36, who now seems most unlikely to be a villain.

but my eyes hurt from all this "unvote/vote:".

(OOC: They're just used to doing that from the past couple of mafia games. Stupid totalwar.orgers. :p)
