NOTW XXIX: Hired Swords - Game Thread

OOC: I just thought the sword would be nice you know. Blame me for wanting to give a go at getting an item.

"Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Seems we have really panicked now. Didn't want to give the impression of desperately wanting the sword. I merely thought it might be helpful in fending off any murderers. Sprig can have it of course! If he is better in protecting us with the sword then fine! I'm much better with a bow!
Also what have I done that would draw suspicion? I have been quietly following the group, was I too quiet? But those who talked a lot seemed to end up death in the morning. I was afraid this might happen to me! I am loyal to the company, even though I do not posses any special skills.

As for accusations, I have noticed something odd, well thank my good memory but Diamondeye received the red herbs but wasn't poisoned until the night after. If he was killed for the herbs wouldn't he have been killed right that night?

Now the morning after the day Diamondeye received the red herbs he informed everyone he needed another set of herbs to make the potion. Did he knew who had them? Or was it just coincidence that the Adept was the one holding the black herbs? (I assume these are the herbs DE needed, unless there are more herbs)
In the same morning we all hear that the Adept had black herbs, the Lizardman is poisoned! Another coincidence! Too many coincidences for me.

Now the vote tally for the red herbs was pretty close. There were definitely two forces at work and there were worries of who would receive the red herbs. In the end the Wizard won.

As for the black herbs, Sprig received them. With far less voting involved. There was however a tie, looking at the other votes there are only two conclusions: Winston Hughes is the tie breaker or there was a secret vote.

I'm not surprised you do not see where my accusation is going. It is also a problem because well it involves accusing those accusing me, a matter that is never really convincing. I will draw a conclusion, at the same time request that you realise I understand that innocents do work together as well.

But choxorn and askthepizzaguy you seem to agree a lot, working together with rhawn and TForge13.

See it's simple:

First you vote the red herbs to TForge13, it causes you some difficulty but in the end you win the vote. Then you try to 'hide' the fact that you work together, this fails however. Because rhawn votes for TForge13 but choxorn and askthepizzaguy vote for rhawn?!

Seon and Sprig, are you working together with them? From who did the guarantees of 'innocence' came? Who 'brought' you together? Think about it.

Ow all who I named think about this, I could be wrong in positioning you all. But the killers are among you.

Now accusing others is not the best defence, I had to though, share these ideas I have. Because otherwise everyone would just jump on the bandwagon, sealing my faith. I am innocent, the proof is the lack of evidence. Voting on me because I vote for a sword? Because someone would like to defend himself at night?

Whew! I just got through reading all that.

I think I will let rhawn, Tforge, and choxorn all answer the charge that we are secretly conspiring together, especially in such an obvious way, based on the item voting? After the last game, where my whole team went down due to collaborative item voting?

Yah, they and a couple other people did as well after I revealed a bit of myself.

I think this voting on Nictel isn't going to lead anywhere. Nictel until we come up with a better reason to lynch somebody.

askthepizzaguy, you continue to reference some prior "game" that we played in. I know not what that is, but what I can tell you is that there is a lack of any real evidence against Nictel. Nor was there any against J-Man. I believe that you are just playing us all, and trying to use your massive amount of speaking to trick us to following your bandwagons. You should pay for attempting to put someone to death for merely not stating a reason for having an item.

"MY vote was purely to get you Nictel in the open, I was a bit surprised to see so many people had followed. If i could have chosen again, i would have made someone else lead the vote on you and placed my accusation against Winston Hughes. But what is done is done."​

"It is quite strange, DE didn't seem innocent to my mind, I wonder if his death was down to some vigilante. I know someone was observed coming into his tent on night 2. but would the poison take a whole day to take effect? Also, there are two types of poisons in this company. Would both be in innocents hands? I don't thinks so. My conclusion (it might be wrong of course) was that he was killed by the same person/s that killed the Battlemaster, TheForestAuro."

"Herbs, I think there are four sets of herbs out there. Tforge, the Wizard hold the red herbs which combine with another set of herbs to make a warmth potion as the wizard has told us. The Black herbs were voted to me and they combine with the Green herbs to make a poison. During my interrogation of the Dragonslayer when he was close to facing the lynch, he told me amongst other things, that he had a set of herbs that are posionous. These were the Green Herbs that he has now passed to me. However, only someone with a skill in potions is able to bring both herbs together. I can comfirm this in private or the company can decide together if you want me to put the green herbs up for vote."​

And now for the fun part. What/who we up against. Lets follow the journey of the berserker over the last few days...

"After the death of the Captain, it was time to assess my situation. It was clear that there was a plot against us. A group of people after something within the company. It was clear to me that I am rather unimportant in the grand scheme of things and am only here for the love of the fight. With that knowledge, I was open with others about myself and will tell you all for those that do not know..."​

"I am afforded the luxury of being loud and obnoxious because I am not an important person, I don't have any special abilities and with the battlemaster gone, I can afford to be reckless with my life. I am the perfect bait to try and get the wolf's to waste a kill on. My PG was to protect the Battlemaster'

"As for Abilities. I am simply just a very strong Orc with excellent weapon skills. Any weapon that I hold will have its strength bonus doubled."

'And for items I have a pair of rusty swords that were my prized possessions but as I was slaughtering all the Illian scamps, I missed a lone mage who cast a rust spell at me and now my swords are all but useless."

"On night one, I failed my PG. Didn't even get a chance to talk to the Battlemaster. Also there was another kill, with Civplayah. Natually my assumption was that there was two bad guys or two groups of bad guys."

"My reward for being open and honest about my character was that i was approached by a person with a unique ability. (Something that I will not discuss out in the open.) So during the second day, I tried to be loud as possible and attract as much attention as I could. My reward for this was to be attacked twice during the night. Oh was I happy about this, two night time attacks foiled.

"Day three, Choxorn the Sharshooter was singled out by my ally. I decided that a bluff was inorder. I pretty much threaten Choxorn that there was discussion about a vigilante hit on him unless he revealed himself. Choxorn was composed enough to not reveal right away. I thought my bluff might have failed but later on the day I voted for him in the main thread and he sent another message that had a trace of panic."

"Day Four sees the lizard man turn up poisoned. Why the Knife user did not kill, someone must know. It is possible that they tried to attack me again but i am not so sure. Choxorn finally reveals after I place a vote on him again. And low and behold I have my first prophet contact. (And yes, he is well protected) Seems as if he scanned me the previous night. He confirmed him as a prophet as details provided could only have been known by someone who scanned me."

"With Choxorn in the clear my focus goes back on Seon and I accuse him once more. It also turns out to be an interesting and busy day. TLO gets himself in trouble, (OOC: his actions are remarkably simliar to how he played in Holy Grail) I do my duty to try and extract as much infomation out of him as possible. And well what you know, an interesting ability and Item. I convince him that if he is truly innocent then he should be trying to get himself killed at night and let the killers waste another kill. I send a quick message to Rhawn, Choxorn and ATPG telling them to unvote/support TLO. Once again it didn't matter if i looked suspecious. In fact if someone had come to me like I did to them. I would have voted for me straight away. Choxorn knew he could trust me, so he wasn't an issue, ATPG reacted a bit strange, if he was a wolf then I left myself open to attack that night. I think, I made it clear to him in a round about way that if i died, he would be placed in the firing line. Rhawn on the otherhand was pissed and rightly so. I think he was very close to voting for me."

"I had done enough to ensure that TLO survived but saw the bandwagon swing to J-man. If you look at the votes that day you see Seon scared to keep his vote on TLO and he changes it to J-man. This vote seals J-mans fate. That night I end up with the herbs, this did surprise me quite a bit but it did confirm that it mixes with TLO's item."

"Also during day 4 another prophet shows up claiming that they have scanned me innocent. His story checks out and he is lined up by Choxorn for scanning that night."

"Day 5, My Alignment prophet comes back clean and unfortunatly his scan target for that night was pinman. A valuable person lost and scan wasted. I do want to note however that I believe Choxorn was attacked last night and thats why there was only one kill."

There does seem to be an actual reason for suspecting Seon, or at least more so than Nictel.

The Adventurer had not spoken since his naming as the new captain. Sometimes it was best to just listen to the various conversations going on as opposed to randomly shouting out accusations with no basis, which before today, seemed to be the customary thing to do.

"Autolycus, fear not, I have been here all along. Just before today I had no leads of my own to speak of and I didn't want to condemn someone when I myself had nothing to go on.

"Today though is a different story. Sprig's line of logic against Seon is solid, and some other things that have been said bare looking into as well. Sprig can also have the sword (OOC: Paulus - yellow, seriously?) since it would seem he can make the best use of it."
