Random Thoughts Sechs: Eeeeehhhh...

Also, I bought a chocolate bar today and on the inside of the wrapper it has a quote from Romeo and Juliet. I never understood Shakespeare very well but what it means in the context of eating chocolate is even more baffling.
Why do you think chocolate is associated with love (and therefore a great deal is sold and consumed on February 14)? There are many women who, given a choice between a man and a box of chocolates, would take the chocolate.

Not that Shakespeare was aware of that, but then he was writing about a couple of teenage idiots.

Pffft. At a mere 6154. Get to 6226 and then talk to me about running out of posts.
Try having tens of thousands of posts. There are days when I look at what's on offer and think, "Do I have anything I'd consider worthwhile saying to add to any of this?" and sometimes the answer is "no" and so I check out TrekBBS or go back to gaming, working on my novel, or arguing on CBC.ca.

I'd take the chocolates too, Valka.

I'm gonna guess my postcount

damn closer to 19k than I thought

The joke involved that I was only just barely beyond him.
I had noticed that.

Just because I don't find a joke that funny (or funny at all), don't assume I didn't actually get it. One can understand a joke without finding it funny (so your snarky "like" is not necessary, @Birdjaguar).

I'd take the chocolates too, Valka.
I wonder if the original Takhisis would? (the Dragonlance character). After all, her realm is the Abyss, which would probably make it all melty and messy. I usually keep the chocolate in the freezer, especially heading into the warm part of the year when most of my apartment is in direct sunlight much of the day.

I liked his post above yours when he made it and when he explained the joke to you I liked his explanation. You were not involved in any of my thinking.

I am quite certain that having one entire breed of my dragons dedicated specifically to cold-based attacks would be, well, useful in such circumstances.

So love is like chocolate, only love sucks, but chocolate is still good, so buy more of our chocolate? I guess that works for me :D

Hmmm. With only a little imagination one can already imagine your avatar as being made of chocolate, Mr. BC.

You'd be in for a surprise if you bite into Mr. Wigglesworth

Of course not. Just like all the other times when you "like" posts that are either mods reprimanding me, other people being rude to me, or people being sarcastic toward me.

That sounds awesome for your cats :)
Maddy likes it. But at some point it gets too hot for me and I have to close the blinds. After that Maddy has to move over to one of the other rooms, since I don't close those blinds. She doesn't have a problem with vertical blinds, but she attacks horizontal ones until she's opened a Maddy-sized hole in them (with pieces of blinds all over the floor) so she can see outside. Since I'm tired of having to pay for new ones, I just don't bother closing the horizontal ones anymore.

Ah. So Her Dark Majesty keeps her chocolate stash in Icewall. :D

I sense a fanfic beginning to occur to me. :mischief:

Others can explain it more knowledgeably, I'm sure, but basically consuming chocolate makes the human brain feel good - some people (mostly women) find it "better than sex" (as the saying goes).

Some people use chocolate as an aphrodisiac (witness the TV trope of lovers planning a romantic evening making sure they have chocolate-dipped strawberries at hand).

There are many women who, given a choice between a man and a box of chocolates, would take the chocolate.

This is true for many men also. I'm not sure on the stats for it though, as these are not generally mutually exclusive options for people.

Still right now relationship rates for people < 40 are pretty low. Last I heard rate for men not bothering has ~tripled since last generation, but I'm not sure that's accurate.

I think these are the role of culture, art and other related discourse that gives metaphorical meaning to our surrounding. I think this is one of the most important contribution that these discourse give to language, it gives a metaphoric meaning to flower, heart, sun, moon, water and even chocolate. Once I ask one of the well established national scale lecturer and poet, my question to him was "what is the role of poet in our society?" And his answer was "to protect language". Despite of how cliche the answer was but I think it is somewhat true also.

This is basically why tyrants seek to control TV channels, language academies and well-known artists.

Do explain.
I don't have to explain "fanfic", do I?

If you're asking what it's about, the answer is obvious: Queen Takhisis and her chocolate stash (maybe the reason she was so cruel to Raistlin in the Abyss is because she ran out of chocolate). Other than that, I have no idea, as the idea just occurred to me. My mind is still going full steam ahead with my Kingmaker fanfic.

If I end up writing anything about this, it would obviously not be a serious story. As with Star Trek, I don't seem to be capable of writing serious Dragonlance. My last attempt was a crossover between Dragonlance and Doctor Who, with Fizban and K-9 not getting along very well.[/QUOTE]

We could always write a story about the Dragonqueen mounting an invasion to get chocolate.

Because chocolate is the food of the gods.

If you don't find a humorous post of mine funny, please don't cite it as the pretext for an unrelated post of your own.

Please return me the courtesy I have always shown you of simply saying nothing in response to posts of yours that I do not find humorous.
