This isn't accurate, everyone who donates blood in Canada is individually tested for Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C, HIV 1 and 2, Human T-Cell lymphotropic virus HTLV-I and II,
West Nile Virus and Chagas Disease.
So why can't gay people donate blood.
On our screenings at least, there are no questions about being gay. You're barred from donating if you're a man who's had sex with a man since 1977, regardless of whether you're gay.
