It's not even theoretical. Cutlass just accused me, the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, of having Nazi sympathies. I could quote that any time he denies giving unfair labels to political opponents.

Funny thing is that Nazism needed a target group, and chose Jews, but there isn't anything inherent about that choice. Nazism can work just as effectively using some other target group as the focal point for the hate they stir up as their rallying motive. Bannon targets "the left," an ill defined group that he and Trump and you get to assign people to pretty much at will, at least to your own satisfaction. So the whole "grandson of a holocaust survivor" has no real bearing on the situation.

Israel operates basically as a Nazi state, using the Palestinians as the target group, so clearly Judaism in self or ancestor is not a vaccine. @Cutlass is well aware of that, apparently, if he actually did call you a Nazi.

Nazism, as a political ideology, is defined as being antisemitic. Bannon has been accused of being antisemitic. It's pretty fair to assume Cutlass was drawing a line between the two.

He could have said 'fascist.' That would still work nearly as well for the purpose of embarrassing leftists, but at least it's a broad term.

So, basically, no reason other than being associated with Trump. You all could have just said as much instead of posting all that apoplectic nonsense.

I'm asking because progressives held him up as somehow worse than Trump, and as proof of the true 'white nationalist' motivations of the campaign. The family separation was awful, but Bannon did not carry it out (no, someone being 'associated' with him is not sufficient evidence) and is at least a few steps above death camps.

Besides, Bannon has been the Grendel of the left since 2016. So that really doesn't explain anything.

So please, please quote a statement he's made in support of fascism or Nazism. If it's this obvious, it should be easy for you to provide it.

Absolutely. For the same reason that critics of George Soros (or of elites and globalists in general) get reflexively called antisemitic. I'd wear the label proudly, because it would show every sane person in the world what the left really is.

What I am attempting to do is not to call you a Nazi sympathizer. But rather to shock you into giving your positions more thought. And as the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, you finding anything to support in people like Bannon is something you really need to rethink.

Hitler came to power on the continual repetition of statements that "those people are responsible for all our problems, and if only we hurt them, then all our problems will be solved." Trump came to power on the continual repetition of statements that "those people are responsible for all our problems, and if only we hurt them, then all our problems will be solved." Bannon did a great deal of the work to build Trump's rise to power.

What is fundamentally the difference if it is Jews who are the scapegoats, or Hispanics? Or some other group.

How would I get a black and white CKII world map, with distinguishable provinces, that I could edit in a program like Paint?

I found this on Google, I don't know CKII but this came up and it looks very clear to me. I hope it helps you.

Owen laconically upvoted it so I'd say you can use it.

If the Mary's map doesn't help I'd suggest browsing their forums and they can help you with your byz-ness.

Huh. Somehow, just Googling it didn't occur to me. (I've been working in CKII to set events for each region and I needed a way to show which event goes where, so a map will allow people to easily see them.)

Question-not-worth-its-own-thread: Does the word ‘freshman’ also apply to women? Or is it restricted only to men?

Well, a lot of colleges now say "first-year student"

They still call their second year students (of both genders) half-morons.

Does anyone else ever feel a bit guilty for taking the best produce from a supermarket?

It mainly happens when the items are sold by unit rather than weight. For example squashes are on special in aldi for 39p each, and I just went in and bought all the big ones, and when I got back I thought that everyone else will only have small ones, effectively meaning they are paying about twice the price I paid. So I feel a little bit guilty, but I would do the same again so not that guilty.

I actually do the opposite when I buy lettuce, because I rarely finish the whole thing before it starts browning anyway. We can consider that karmic balance for your squash-shenanigans, if you like.

I have never in my life had a reason to buy even one squash. So I guess that means you get my share.

You should try them, I think they are really good, reasonably healthy and I think delicious. I just bought 16 of the squashes I linked above (~600g each) and 4 pumpkin (another type of squash) at ~3 Kg. That is a lot of what I shall be eating for a few days.

My only prerequisite for vegetables and fruit that will be cooked is that they aren't mushy.

I will admit that if they are to be eaten raw, I want them to be unblemished. Bruises and browning have a taste of their own that I don't really appreciate. If I'm buying apples, I want to spend a minimal time cutting out the browned bits when I go to eat them.

I was getting mad at my lost postcount from archived serial threads but then I think I remembered something -

We now keep our postcount from archived serial threads, right?
