I come back to this thread and everyone is still saying weird things like how we need to cut social security spending, like that would somehow be better for anyone anywhere.

I guess if you like having more poverty, less technology, and higher unemployment. If you think being less advanced and developed is your definition of a better economy, by all means!

Bretton Woods, tightly regulated banks, and a mixture of Libertarian and Socialist economics.

There was also an individual reluctance to take on debt.


We appear to have gotten rid of all but one of those currently.

That shutdown might have shifted the date a few days back. With all those government services not operating, the expenditures should be slightly decreased.

I wonder whether the poeple calculating these things have been affected by the shutdown as well?

Like the previous compromises the Republicans offered, it failed on the part where Obama didn't get everything he demanded.

So the Democrats continue to hold the gun to America's head till there is only one party in American government.

I was born in Norway and have lived there for about 40 years. I can assure everybody that it is not all what that uninteresting person claims.
