2020 US Election (Part One)

You know, I've always wondered how one goes about getting employed as a Russian troll? It could be a decent side gig for some extra income.

I think you have to move in the right circles and have experience in the field. I've been approached to be an "on-line campaigner" pretty consistently over the past handful of elections, so it wouldn't be terribly surprising if the Russians came knocking.

I prefer Bernie as well, unfortunately not enough people do. I'm not American but I would vote for Bernie or Biden.

Both would be accountable to the larger party so neither one is going to get away with anything to stupid.

Biden is senile, Trump will chew him and spit him out in pieces for the election. In the unlikely event that the virus turns into such a disaster that Trump cannot escape blame and loses, Biden would be a zombie president, an empty shell of a front-man for a oligarchic government that would make Obama's look good by comparison! Reagan II at his worst.
That if another certain zombie (you-know-who) isn't waiting behind the curtain to jump into the stage at the convention, because senescence.

I can't just do it from the comfort of my own home and still get paid? Maybe I'll contact the Russian embassy in the US for more information...

We apparently it's run out of a building just north of St Petersburg iirc.

Well vote Trump then.

Feels like a movie, Trump vs Biden.
20 years ago i would have never thought the U.S. can sink that low, might as well dump the whole president appointment and rule Amercia via Twitter or so.

I don't really get it either. It's like being too stubborn to app it up for everything and tend the digital front lawn leaves one thinking in a different dialect.

Speaking of which, why is Sanders seen as being relatively weak with black voters? I can’t think of anything in his platform that makes him appear so unpalatable.
In addition to other reasons given, Black voters are just not as liberal as white voters (on the whole). As a result, Sanders is just inherently less suited to represent that constituency.

When you fix Canada, get back us. I suggest that you go preach political revolution there and test your success where you actually have say. Its very easy to shout "It's evil and we need change! Rise up" for places where you have no say, l have no influence, and have never lived (most likely). Do you post on English speaking Russian forums advocating the over throw of Putin?

Advocating how to change other places is kinda like trying to do social work for families you've never met and have not been assigned to work with, but on a much bigger scale. Of course you are welcome to your opinions, and constructive ideas can be helpful. There are a lot of those here. Fixing nations is like fixing families, but on a gargantuan scale. Sort out all those Canadian issues first and then get back to us with your "revolutionary" ideas. Thanks.

If only such wisdom were still applicable. But that mentality had it's sell-by date over 100 years ago. And don't the Habsburgs, Hohenzollerns, Romanovs, and Osmans wish it had lasted longer. As well as the big European Colonial Empires. But no. The world isn't a place where "fixing one nation at a time, by it's own citizens alone," is remotely viable anymore. The world is too politically, culturally, economically, and - in the last few decades - digitally intertwined to just make solid and meaningful improvements on each national level, and in a void, at all effective and viable, and idea exchange across borders is a HUGE factor on how national reform and change is done and proposed. The socio-political and economic "butterfly effect" is very real. Time to get your head out of your parochial hole-in-the-ground.

Because I don't care about what you, Tim, or anyone else here votes? Seriously, you guys should take a break from thinking I have to take you into consideration when just posting on CFC. We aren't on some media reaching tens of millions of people, ffs :p
You don't have to pay any attention to us at all. Just like we do not have to ignore your posts and are allowed to respond to them.

Not really. One of the worst things you can do is tell a foreigner that their country sucks and here's how you fix it.

Doesn't matter what country it is. People either know somethings wrong or are happy with it.

And what works in liberal Canada won't work in say Eastern Europe let alone the ME.

Let them ask questions, answer them and they can draw their own conclusions.

For example I ran into some Russians. They liked the clean air and asked about why everything is so clean and tidy. Then they asked how it got paid for (taxes) and then they were asking about how much a house cost.

They were from Odessa so I guess Odessa isn't as pretty as Moscow/St Pete. Not gonna tell them Russia sucks at least by our standards. They have different standards and different culture. They kinda know they don't have the best government in the world.

I don't recall saying the U.S. sucks. But, another adage of wisdom, and one which HASN'T become outdated (though many neurotically and egotistically refuse to acknowledge), is that a frank and honest outside opinion and perspective is highly valuable - sometimes even necessary - for self-improvement, because one's own perspective of one's situation and problems is almost always highly distorted and inaccurate, and teaming with self-delusion, self-deception, and egotism and/or self-loathing.

Does that mean you are open, welcoming and receptive to being criticized by non Canadians?

Perhaps a "clean hands," electoral revolt, like in Italy in the '90's.
Which resulted in Berlusconi's turn in power.
A parable.

The letters of the alphabet were deciding where to all dine. A through M said "wherever the rest of you want is fine by us." N, O, P and Q fervently wanted to eat at the Maison de Poison. R and S always go along with what N-Q want to do. X, Y and Z wanted that great new steak house, but T, U, V and W felt most comfortable at the restaurant that served leftover cabbage. Y and Z said, "I don't like leftover cabbage. And it's worse than that I don't like it, it gives me diarrhea. No way I'm voting for leftover cabbage." Everyone dined at Maison de Poison.
Hey, don't disparage the fish dinner at House of Fish.

There are a couple in the forum, haven't you noticed them yet?

Of course - if said non-Canadians are as informed about Canadian affairs as I am about American affairs (a surprisingly high bar). Being informed is part of being able to give such a frank and honest opinion. I don't feel I would be nearly as qualified to give such an opinion about the Vietnamese or Malagasy Governments, for example - and thus I don't.

I was referring to things at the personal level.
