Stars *are* awesome. It's always something I make a point of checking out when I'm hiking in the middle of nowhere. I think the most amazing stars I've ever seen were in Peru - on the 2nd day of the Salkantay Trek. I really wish I could have captured the brilliance of that on film.

The economic categories seem to be 20 years out of date. The "advanced economies" and "transitional economies" are basically the Cold War-era First World and Second World.

Edit: and checking the map in the link you provided confirmed my suspicion.

This is probably a better base

It's not perfect, but much more accurate at describing contemporary economic development than the traditional Worlds Theory.
