Dragonlance: War of the Lance discussion thread

Leadheads look pretty good. I reckon you can probably find roughly suitable ones for most of the other civs (though non-human/elven races will be a problem - no Kender LH available, probably thankfully!). One point: aren't people from Ergoth black?

Noordmaar is mine! And the dwarves of Thorbardin should be divided into all their clans, Hylar, Daewar, Dewar, Daergar, Aghar, Theiwar, etc.

And I won´t lose this time around

Ah Plotinus, you make me doubt. <searching> Uhu, the first Ergothians were black. After Cataclysm, there weren't all 'pure' dark black. There was a new range of skin, eyes and hair colors, due to Solamnic immigration. Ackalites are black too. Too bad, I like the Ackalite LH. Time to find 2 new LHs. Thanks for the remark.

Takhisis: Um, no they shouldn't. Even if the different clans live in different part of a city, they still live in the same city.

Amesjustin: I keep that in mind. And don't worry, I don't forget your units ;)

Thorgrimm: GoodLund, Goodlong, it's just another stinking kender dump ;)

Here is the city lists. If the Dragonlance afficianos want to check it and complete it if needed. Some civilizations desesperatly needs more city names(Zarkhar, Kagonesti, Nuilond).

Zulu has a new dwarf LH... and it's great.
I've been working on unit lines for LotM and you are going to have your hands tied looking for enough dwarf units to make three distinct dwarf civs. I am having enough difficulty with three elvish nations. I would consider wrapping them into one or two to start with.

As for the Kender, there is a Samwise Gamgee LH available... stands to reason a kender king would get quite fat, no?

We are in the final stages of LotM and once that is completed I would enjoy throwing myself full time into this mod.

Obviously, the Dwarven nations will share most of theirs units. I can't fuse them together as they have distinct locations and purposes in the scenario. From memory, I'd say there are at least 15 dwarf units on these boards. Probably enough for this scenario. Same thing for the Elves, I can't put them together under one or two civilizations. But, at least, they can get "human" units without too much problems. It's not like you can see the pointy ears anyway. ;) For the units, my biggest problem resides with the Ogres, Minotaurs, Kenders and Gnomes. All these get very few units. Surprisingly, the spectral nation of Nuilond seems to have all the needed ghost units!

Samwise. Mmh. Good call but I don't know if he'll fit well.

Edit: Cleaned up the most obvious spelling mistakes.

I´ll give you a list of a few Kagonesti campsites, they never had city-like places, but you´ll have to wait until Friday.

Ahh... I initially thought this will be a full mod. You're right, you will not need nearly as many for a scenario.

You're probably going to have to use some hobbits for kender anyways, if you want more than four or five kender units (especially if you are going to have settlers and workers).

You can make the dwarves work... we've (LotM team) found some human units which can look like dwarves when resized as well.

Gnomes could utilize hobbit units also. For ogres you will probably want to use many of the troll and giant units available.... minotaurs will be tough, you'll have to incorporate some of aaglo's other beastman units and perhaps some of the gnolls as well. I'll have some human units which can work as elves to suggest.

I've been over every unit created (fantasy and ancient) about ten times so when it comes time for it I'll have plenty of suggestions :) Unit selection is more the icing on the cake for after you have created the foundation.

I thought making a full mod, but I saw that without scripting abilities, it wouldn't be true to Dragonlance. What's a Dragonlance game without Cataclysm ? Maybe for Civ-4..

I'll make sure to remember you when I'll come around making the unit-lines. :)

Supa: You could make three parts: one of the Pre-Cataclism age, one for the ´tween Cataclisms age and one after the second cataclism.

Also, you MUST have a Kinslayer Wars scen, I can make the terrain, but I´ll leave the unit-making to others (my units stink).

not unless you can change the map somehow after the ages change...the Geography and "alliances" change during each cataclysm...

There are a few Kender units available
I can start making city names in Elvish for Kag camps if you like...In fact if you want, I will research as many city names as I can...

I meant three different .biqs, you worshippers of Paladine ;)

And for Sithelbec (Kinslayer scen) you could put a nice city with all the defensive improvements possible, and a perimeter of fortresses with a garrison each.

Actually Takh, I would never be caught following Paladine...Sargonnas is more to my liking...or if all else fails, Gilean...but Never Paladine/Mishikal/Kiri-Jolith or any of their associates

3 biqs?...well at least one of the maps is made already...Id say DO IT....

Takhisis, do you want to kill me ? ;)
The problem is the lack of script. Why bother making a Pre-Cataclysm scenario if I can't make the Cataclysm ifself ? And a scenario post-Second Cataclysm would be muuuuuuch better with a good script. The Big Bad Dragons, the return
Spoiler :
of Takhisis and the others gods.
And I'm not very familiar with anything post-War of Chaos, I've just read the War of Souls trilogy and years ago, Dawn of the Dragons or something similar.

But the scenarios with a smaller scale can be made. Kinslayer Wars, the Dwarf Gates War, War on Southern Ergoth (Not very important historically but I've made the map one night when I was bored to death ;) ). But now, my priority is this scenario : War of the Lance.

Spacer One > A Kagonesti city list would be a great gift for this project.

Varwnos > I didn't choice the city graphics. I haven't chose the cultural groups yet ;)

Supa, this is an excellant idea for a Mod and/or scenario. Although I didn't read many of the books, I was a big fan of the computer games, in the 80's/90's (showing my age there), and have a little bit of knowledge, should you require any help. Not many Zhakar cities, the only ones I recall are Zhakar, Fangrock & Zhakar Keep. The Kagonesti (wild elves) are nomadic & move around the forests in small clans. They have no permanent settlements that I recall. I think you mean Nightland, rather than Nuiland. Dargaard Keep was the home of Lord Soth. The only other large settlement in Nightland is a port town/city called Kalaman, but it was not inhabited by undead.

I will have a look at your city list & see if I can provide you with anymore info.:goodjob:

In the last RPG books (D20), it is Nightlund, I've make a mistake in the first post but yeah, it's the Lord Soth's province. Thanks for Kalaman. There are only these 2 settlements (Dargaard and Kalaman) ? Nightlund is a rather large region. Odd. Anyway, Lord Soth will start with only 1 city, his Keep, and won't be able to build others. Only capture. I don't see ghosts building cities, do you ? ;)

A rather large part of the map is inhabited at the start of the scenario and I'd like to avoid this sort of scheme : Zakhar, New Zakhar, Zakhar 2, New Zakhar 2, you see. It's not a priority, rather a detail for when the scenario is almost finished but if someone wants to help, I won't be against.

Spacer One > Aaah thanks! I've got this link in my favorite in my previous HD but when it crashed I've lost it. All I was left with was a smaller version of this map.
