Hi
My name is [HWK]Stonewall and I am making a mod for a historical strategy game called American Conquest Fight Back. I also know Modder_Mode (aka Fallen Knight, another ACFB modder) and he is helping me with my mod, but more as a mentor than a co-modder. I want to ask Kinboat and other people for permission to use their Poser objects to make units for my mod (mostly from the above link). My mod will cover the Renaissance period, focusing on the Italian Wars and Thirty Years War.

We actually have an entire community, the Hawks Club, that plays HEW (Napoleonic Wars mod for ACFB) and HDN (ACW mod for AC:divided nation), both great for historical wargamers! Either I or another member of the hawks club will give more info about our club soon. Basically, our mods modify American Conquest so that we can play set-piece historical battles that are incredibly realistic and fun. We are also a very social group, and we often play campaign weekends, in which players pick sides and play a set of battles from a historical campaign (for example, the Peninsular War) and each the outcome of each battle influences the final outcome.

Kinboat doesn't come around these parts any more.
While I can't particularly speak for the community, nor especially the staff here on the site, I can say that the general etiquette for use of such things as Poser props, etc., is to give a thank you or some sort of acknowledgement to the creator.

I wish you luck with your mod, I loved playing ACFB, and might well pick it back up soon. :)

What Quinzy says is correct. Some people have even posted their work as freebies at general modelling sites. OTOH Some creators are very particular about how their things are used. IMHO before using the material for other than Civ purposes make your best effort to (1) see what disclaimers people have posted about their work, and (2) make your best effort to contact them individually to confirm that what you propose is acceptable. Then be very explicit about giving credit in your own work. Remember that copyright still exists even when use rights are granted & there is no financial gain involved.

Thanks everyone. I will be sure to mention in the credits the people whose Poser items I used. And thank you in advance.
