What are you referring to is the interpersonal slur which is quite different from institutionalized racism based on rights' elimination or restriction of which Anglo-Saxon have showed the world marvelously magnificient examples.

The institutional racism is but a mere shadow of what it once was, while xenophobia and racism are apparently still quite rampant in Russia. No black sports stars are openly ridiculed anymore even though racism and xenophobia are still major problems. But nobody has estimated that 50% of the population of the US suffers from the latter. It is probably more like 20% or perhaps even less.

You may want to reread this thread to more fully comprehend what I was talking about guilt.

And you may want to not deliberately take one sentence out of context with the paragraph. Racism towards blacks is based on superiority. I'm sure it is no different in Russia with using bananas to ridicule black soccer players.

It isn't due to guilt that it has finally caused overt racism like this to no longer be politically correct in the US. It is due to enough people finally saying enough is enough, which is something that has apparently not yet occurred in Russia.

You are preaching to the choir in regard to how Southerners in particular continued to mistreat blacks long after the rest of the world had stopped doing do, much less the imperialism and hegemony advocated by many. But that has nothing to do with essentially the same feelings of superiority still being so pervasive in Russia even today. "Other people used to be worse" is hardly an excuse.
