New NESes, ideas, development, etc

I don't get the intersteller hate! But I do see the appeal of the early planetary phases. Think of the adventure!

I'd be most interested in Emergent Interplanetary, Interplanetary, and Emergent Interstellar. Those seem to offer the most interesting settings in my opinion.

I'm also in agreement Adrogans.

I've seen a few interstellar corporate NESes before and they burn out fast because really there is little limit or competition.

For this one I call big defense aerospace contractor!

My favorite sci fi neses are solar system sized, such as this

Funny addendum, I found a wiki about 'poly NESing and I will quote from it: "The driving force behind the original Apolyton NESes was SKILORD, who, due to his sheer laziness and his own focus on the storytelling aspects, introduced Pure Story NESes to the site with SNESA and SNESA 2: Ad Infinitum. Ad Infinitum still stands as a stunning example of what a Pure story NES can be" I fell out of my chair laughing at the description of me. Yes, I am lazy, and also, I like stories.

I am not sure if it still counts if you made it 5 years ago--perhaps that just adds to the joke?

As for planetary? Yeah that would be fairly interesting too. Granted, I find that using our own solar system would be much too limiting and err on the side of crazy-hard scifi as opposed to the squishy soft sci-fi that I feel makes a lot of those kind of NES' great. Perhaps in a new system entirely or something?

Interesting timing.

Silhouette needs work.

An in-system setting would be interesting. Getting to the isolated mining stations on the outer planets (Ceres, Ganymede, etc.) would prove the most lucrative for those making the trip, due to the immense potential profit hauling finished goods/water for hydroponics/etc. to the mining stations out, and taking back various metals needed in the resource-poor inner planets, but would naturally be the most vulnerable to raiders.

Something revolving around Acnient Nordic Mythology would be great. If anybody here has ever played the old game King of Dragon Pass, you'll likely know what I mean. Hell, I might even be willing to put one together at a later date once I get some more experience under my belt.

T's a good game.

I like the Norse Myth thing, but also I'm not going to lie, there's a lot of science fiction or small scale (like controlling a person) NESes (spelling?) but there are few NESes based on the past. And there are no fresh starts that I am aware of. So I'm just saying personally (and from a biased viewpoint additionally) it seems like there is a major imbalance and wanted to bring this up and see if anyone agrees with me.

Yeah there have been a slew of em, but the NESes go through phases. Just wait and soon enough they'll change.

Three cheers for KoDP. Actually, a Glorantha NES could be nice too, though it would certainly take a lot of work to set up.

I'm aware of that but most of them are highly detailed and require a lot of time and effort. Meaning that there is indeed a time where they are active but for the most part they are inactive for a long while. I'm not by any means blaming the people who run the NESes, but the problem is when there are a bunch of stagnant NESes, it really makes things kind of boring for the players. I just think that their needs to be a balance of various NESes, based on details (basic, complex, ect) and type (eg: science fiction, fantasy, historical, ect). I don't know though, that's just my view on things right now.

Truly tragic. :sigh:
Sarcasm?
