Random Rants 94 I rant at the thread title and shake my fist menacingly.

I should move to the Pacific Northwest. Ideal climate. 60 and raining.

Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, have released the following statement regarding the BC Coroners Service’s Review of Heat-Related Deaths in B.C. in Summer 2021 report:

“We are saddened by the confirmation that 619 people lost their lives due to heat during the unprecedented heat dome in summer 2021. Our hearts go out to the families and friends who continue to grieve the loss of a loved one.

Well, that's terrible.
That doesn't account for the hundreds more animals, domestic and wild, that died.

The heat dome affected us here, too (next province over). That summer was absolutely horrible, and I can't imagine how people in BC coped. I was barely coping here (scary proposition to wake up with symptoms of heat exhaustion during the pandemic, when the hospital is the last place you want to be). Thank goodness the fan arrived via Amazon driver shortly after.

My wife does that. This week, night time temps go to the 30s. she is struggling
I personally feel the strong urge to do nothing after a certain point. Cold incentivizes staying under the covers.

Exacerbating it is general lethargy. Cutting weight from 170 to 165. Halfway there after 2 weeks, which is a pretty extreme cut. Not super energetic on a caloric deficit of approx 550 600 to begin with.

This heat is terrible… wait, you're talking Fahrenheit, aren't you?
Yes. -1 Celsius. The high the past few days was 56 (13), cloudy too, though a warm front has moved in on strong southern winds today.

No sun coming through the windows, no warm air coming in, after 3 days, cold really starts to make its way in.

That should be illegal.

Y'all should come to Minnesota. It was 80F today, possibly a new record. And in a few months we will have a week of -20F; might even get another polar vortex this year where the temperature drops to -50F.
(Probably not as long term forecasts think it will be a wetter, and thus slightly warmer, winter.)

LA california weather is usually good except when it rains a lot. However, its kinda expensive.

You forgot to mention the mosquito horde is so large that it frightens the minions of hell.

lbs? What's your height?

I will say that low temps improve sleep quality greatly. The rest is a drag. I don't think I'm built for high temps either. I should move to the Pacific Northwest. Ideal climate. 60 and raining. Or the UK or NZ.

Don't come to the UK if you struggle with seasonal daylight variation. It's already getting dark by 5 pm now we're back in GMT.

lbs? What's your height?
6 even.

Work took me down to 150lbs about 9 months ago. Too low. I overcorrected a bit.

Intake is 2500. I pushed expenditure up to 3000 via running/biking. No intake reduction, just reduction of carbs as a %. From 50-60 to 33.

I chipped a tooth today.

Actually, I chipped the tooth about 18 years ago, during my first semester of college. I had it fixed with some bonding the last time I went to my childhood dentist.

A small piece of the bonding broke off several years ago.

I've asked my last couple dentists about fixing that bonding, but they insisted I should get a crown instead. The last one said I ought to get braces first to fix the spacing between the teeth and then get a symmetrical matching pair of crowns for both top front teeth.

A couple hours ago I hit my head pretty hard on a low ceiling at work. I was wearing a hard hat and didn't hurt myself, but it seems like all the force went into slamming my jaw shut and bringing the chipped tooth down hard on the tooth below it.

All the remaining bonding broke off.

I believe the dentin is now exposed, so I should probably go ahead and do something about it.
