Star Trek unit preview thread

Yeah, I'll ask Jig if you can have the model Weasel Op. It's pretty safe to say that he'll say yes though, if he says that Flamand can have it. A mod that is meant to be for the public kinda implies that you can download the files in the first place.
Erm, it's not the model I want. I just want to use the completed unit whenever it's released. I don't even know how to animate models yet. :crazyeye: All I was saying was, "Flamand, please make that unit because I want to use it." ;)

Flamand, my avatar was made by Jigalypuff himself as a bit of a joke on the BOTF2 website. He once changed my avatar to that Romulan one to see how long it would be before I noticed the change.

I liked it, so I kinda nicked it for my own purposes... :mischief:

It's been my BOTF2 avatar ever since.

If you click the link in my signature, you'll see the avatar that I WANT to have on this site - only thing is that Civfanatics only allows you to have an avatar that is up to 3k in size, and that one is 57.5kb!

I animated it myself, (Using MS Paint and a program called GIF Movie Gear 4.0) which is why the movement isn't perfect. The still avatar that I am now using is just one of the frames from it - resized, of course, coz I don't want to exceed the forum limits.

The avatar is actually the one I have on the BOTF2 site. Jigalypuff is the site administrator, but he can't be bothered to enforce the rules about avatar sizes - mainly because the site has unlimited bandwidth and about 90% of the avatars are over-limit anyway...including his own...

...

Weasel Op, Jigalypuff PM'd me saying that Flamand has contacted him about the models. I think it's a pretty safe bet now that there will be a certain Cardassian model on its way... ;)

And anyways, it sounds like you know more about modeling than I do, even if you can't animate yet. I'm more of an editor than a creator, and I don't know diddly-squat about unit creation/editing.

Modding the Civ 3 unit stats is easy enough though. :D

Yeah, I saw it on the BotF2 forum. But animated avatars are not allowed here because too distracting and too large... It's cute, kinda South Park goes Star Trek... :D I might make one like that myself, just for fun...

Heh...it would be cool to see you with your own moving avatar, Flamand, even if it's only as a link.

Like I said, Jig made mine as a joke - he made several changes to my avatar, in fact, but that was the one I liked best.

I got my revenge on him though...

So now I know why Pokenmon always seemed so strange to me... :)

@Sword: I'm honored that you are using my unit as your avatar. It looks a bit messy, so I made a better one from the model you gave me... :D

Hmmm that is still no good... Third time is the charm... :)

Deep in the Delta quadraint somewhere, the Kazons have discovered Pokemon...

Are those really Kazon-Women?

They seem very Cardassian to me, though its hard to tell. ^^

@Flamand: Excellent progress and work on the Shipdesisgns!
I have set up a 'post TNG era' ship collection for the Romulans, with detailed shipdescription, Graficsources and Stats, though for a Online Game, that deals with ST. Of course, some of those models might have already crossed your way, other though might be new. If you and Thorgrimm are interested in those, just tell me and I'll send you the files.

Mentat, long time no see! Thor said he has 3 Rommie fleets, so we still have a couple of holes to fill... :) You can send them to me and I'll have a look...

Kazon?!

They're Cardassian!

It was just a random picture from DS9 that I found on the internet. I just pasted it into paint, then found a picture of Jigalypuff and edited him/her/it in.

I think I <vaguely> remember what episode the picture was taken from. The women were scientists or something who needed to use a Federation ship to conduct their experiments. (Obviously it was a pre-war episode)

That's all I remember about it though. I certainly don't remember what the title of it was.

Quiet, but not dead...Expect to finish the second Cardie fleet by tonight...

I use 3DS Max 7.0.

And here is the second Cardie fleet: Rokan battleship, Dolak carrier, Keldon battlecruiser, Keldon battlecruiser, Neterok heavy cruiser, Galor refit light cruiser, Hideki escort frigate, Temok scout, Torak fighter and the Litep freighter.

It seems Cardassian ship designers are not very original in their designs: the Dolak and the Keldon are practically the same, as well as the Toran which is just a smaller version of the Hideki... :D

I posted this message over on the Mod forums also just in case you visit there before here. Sorry about the troubles, but is seems a bug crawled into MSN. Got Max running and the Pre-TOS Klingon Fleet is converted.

Flamand, My troubles seem to extend to MSN now, It has blown up on me and I have abandoned it for Yahoo Messenger. Is there any possibility you can get that IM? If not I understand. I am truly sorry for this delay.

Thorgrimm

:nuke: Cheers, Thor :nuke:

Flamand & Thorgrimm, you can also use Trillian, an IM with MSN, Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, ICQ and IRC apabilities. I use it for years. Useful when you've got contact in more than one medium (and also for the publicity-less environnement) :)

Supa, thanks for that info, how would I get ahold of Trillian?

I posted the first of the Klingon Pre-TOS Ship test renders on the Mod's Forum.
