@AdamCrock I have no idea what the game is like now so can't really comment on your strategy. The last deck I played was with this guy

I was pretty fond of playing white weenie decks or combo black and white ones. My kids played too and we have about 3000 cards in a closet including some unopened packs of Arabian Nights and other expansions. As I remember we have a couple of black Lotus and a few of most of the Moxes. Some are played some not. All the blue cards you showed for sure. I haven't looked at them in probably a decade. My son kept playing after I did and as far as I am concerned, the cards are his. Other than a few decks, he hasn't taken them though. All the good stuff is still here.

WOOOOW !!!!
You're very lucky ! Wizards of the Coast promised never to reprint them so keep an eye on them. I suggest keeping them in dark no-oxygen container - not kidding here ;)

check out this :

Guy opens old Magic: The Gathering deck, stumbles on $27,000 card

Alpha Lotus and tropical Island! One lucky guy.

His hands are visibly shaking , he's in shock obviously. I would probably pass out in his place .... than I'd wake up and go buy a car for 30000 $ xD
Not too long ago I've had a similar experience. I've participated in a pre-release tournament for the M21 Core edition and I've opened "Ugin the Spirit Dragon"

It's like "the most wanted" from the whole set (maybe ex aequo with Teferi) ;) It's nowhere even close in worth for what that guy in the movie opened but my reaction was somewhat similar. First it was the shaking hands, disbelief and than I couldn't contain emotions and I yelled enthusiastically "I got it ! Ugin !!!!" Everyone looked at me and I've realized I've probably made a fool of myself but it was worth it

I have no idea what any part of that game is worth, but I had my own instance of triumph at a convention in Calgary in the early '80s. I was in the Dealers' Room and my roommate came over and whispered that she'd seen a copy of The Darkover Concordance on the Sentry Box table.

First-print hardcover copies of that book are rare. There were only 200 printed, and now I own one of them (paid $18 CAD). There are online auction sites where it's listed for $250 USD. I have no idea what it's really worth (obviously no more than what people are willing to pay for it), but I've found it a useful addition to the collection even though it only covers the novels published from 1961-1978.

The Sentry Box guy had no idea what he'd just sold me, since I had the sense to keep my enthusiasm down until after he'd taken my money. They also had a print of the cover of one of MZB's non-Darkover novels; I'd seen it gathering dust in their store for two years, so when it turned up at the convention, I bought that as well ($25 CAD). The guy behind the table verbally kicked himself, saying, "We should have put it in the art auction."

Well, I doubt they would have gotten more than minimum bid, since it had been sitting around in their store for so long. But this way I didn't need to go through the stress of bidding and possibly losing out (I had a firm personal rule about the art auctions at conventions: I didn't want to risk getting carried away at the auction, so it was either minimum bid or I didn't get it; anything with just one bid on it by the closing of the art room was deemed sold to the person who put that bid on it and anything with two or more bids would go into the auction).

Not really.
For it to be a RPG it has to offer you a choice of character to play, a choice in how to play them, and a variety of consequences that result from your previous choices
It doesn't have to be a clone of Baldurs Gate to qualify.

Except for them none of those are what define an RPG and Baldur's Gate isn't a traditional RPG.

At some point, you just have to acknowledge they are idiots and move on. Baldur's Gate has been considered a cornerstone of western RPGs since its launch, and at the time was viewed as having breathed new life into the moribund wRPG market. Video game genres are defined entirely by group consensus. No Divine Council came down and created laws defining what games fall into what categories.
And considering Baldur's Gate has been around for over 20 years -longer than many people in this forum have been alive- I think it meets the definition of "traditional".

Traditional RPGs are games like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem and Pokémon.

Any Magic the Gathering players around ?
I was wondering if we can exchange chatter, strategies, observations, cards ?
I used to play a lot back in the day. Then it got too expensive, cards started getting out of circulation too fast, and it generally decayed around here.

I started reading the New Phyrexia storyline to do some catchup during this year's neverending shutdown and decided that it's not worth it to dig deeper and it's better left as a fond chidlhood/youth memory, because it's overstretched like Star Wars or Warcraft.

IMHO a RPG is a character based game which allows you to play different roles/playstyles => Mario is not a rpg but Baldurs Gate is. But as mentioned above there is no ultimate truth or authority to decide what rpgs areand what they are not.

AmazonQueen, I just gave up on pulling that thread after that.

A bit of a gross question:

Spoiler :
Why don't broken hemorrhoids/anal fissures get infected more often? They're in a place where they can get easily contaminated with fecal matter.
