There's a LEGO movie? Please tell me it's not like their LEGO Star Wars animations.

It's 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and has made almost $500 million worldwide.
It's also one of those kids movies that even adults would really enjoy.

Link to video.

The animation quality was great I thought.

^Proof that getting those kinds of percentages never is reflecting reality. I recall back when we had the thread with this trailer, a long time ago. Already looked very dumb :(

Besides, lego aren't meant for movies, let alone CGI-based. They are only to be used in stop-motion german metal videos :yup:

All 3 toystory movies hold very high fresh scores with 1 and 2 both having 100% fresh rating and 3 having 99% fresh rating.

I saw How To Train Your Dragon at the weekend. It was surprisingly good.

Fantastic of you to so unequivocally pass judgment on a piece of media you have never seen and are only vaguely aware of. You're see credible, especially after you did the exact same thing 3 months ago with Game of Thrones.

I watched The Grand Budapest Hotel a few nights back. It was excellent.
It's a light hearted film but it doesn't get silly or over the top at any point. I don't have the cinematic vocabluary at hand to describe how it was presented but it was definitely shot in a unique way.
A solid 7.5/10.

^I guess you now have more of precious to you backlogs to keep busy with in a comedic dream to antagonise.

I really have no idea what this is supposed to mean, nor even if it's supposed to be interpreted as a grammatical sentence.

Then you will want to watch How To Train Your Dragon II when you get the chance.

It's called a "Wes Anderson."

Every shot is set up to look like a stage or a doll house, very flat and theatrical. And usually fantastic. I still have to see Budapest.

Okay I also watched that Lego Movie.
Not bad. Pretty good by the standards of a kids movie. Loved the Airforce One reference - "Get off my train!". Yep other supposedly good kids movies (Brave) weren't that good IMO, so I guess I am quit critical of them, but this one was a good watch. So by other standards a very good watch I suppose.
Also brought back some childhood memories. We even had one of those lego ghosts who glow in the dark. :)
But man, I couldn't shake off this uncomfortable feeling that I just was watching the best and longest toy commercial ever. The marketing guys must have pissed themselves out of their evil dollar sign devious pride.

Dopey-looking dragon, though. It looked like a large, flying earthworm. But good movie.

Aquamarine Our two teenage girls were on the sides, they were laughing so hard.

Stardust A really sweet fantasy from the pen of Neil Gaiman.

Don Jon (2013)

meh. 4.5 or 5/10 maybe. Best part of the movie honestly is being able to joseph gordon levitt's age by seeing him type :p

one random note though, it is pretty sad how movie ratings and I guess film culture limit things. It's a comedy about porn and sex and shows plenty of non-closeup pornography (it may be able to avoid nudity directly though, I don't remember about the clips shown), but this [and other] films have to shy away from nudity and avoid any showing of male nudity like the plague.

It's tiring to see Jersey shore like behavior. Just not funny enough. And tries to be too happy at the end. Not bad, but just not entertaining. Though pretty typical "come for the scarlett johansen, stay because it'll be fast and juliane moore is good in comedies"

I watched Snowpiercer. It has an unusual premise. A geo-engineering solution is used to reverse the effect of global warming. It goes horribly wrong and the world is uninhabitable. The remains of humanity are aboard a perpetually moving train which has, unsurprisingly, fractured into a class system.

Don't bother with it.

4/10.
