They should at least be able to replace bulk food farms producing for livestock like cattle, pigs, chicken and by that prevent soil erosion, use of fertilisers and pesticides.... and further chopping of tropical forest.
You only need ropes that you seed with seaweed and let grow and harvest rope by rope.
What could be interesting is growing seaweed and sink the ropes into deepsea to help wash out CO2 from the atmosphere.
Lots of research and trials are being done for all kinds of applications.

I would not be too worried about that standing WHEN you sort out at the domestic politics that a Trumpist style GOP is not your next POTUS in 2024.
Biden has already made a list of topics like the Paris convention etc, etc, etc, etc.
Biden has also already sent out trusted political friends to inform other countries in the world his draft position for the US at the global transnational stage.

I actually hope I never live to see the day when the whole Western World will have to adopt major Japanese staples - seaweed and soy - as dominant food products, but I can see it in the foreseeable future, unfortunately.

For bulk foods for livestock I am quite ok with seaweed.
And starch-proteins-fatty acids used in processed food like pizza, undefined saucages etc. You will not taste the difference being the Big Food's taste anyway.
All kinds of fast growing vegetables will in the future go into multi-layer greenhouses (low water and CO2 footprint and importantly no pesticides needed)
For slower growing and more tuber like vegetables it could very well go to multi-cultures (as opposite of mono-cultures). Not only crop rotation but also all kinds criscross mixed whereby harvesting and seeding is done by "combiners" having many robot arms and eyes.
This will prevent diseases and weeds can be picked away. In essence you focus on managing your soil and your microorganisms incl pests IN your soil.
And my favorite, though more expensive, will be the farm-to-fork "farms". Like the traditional way in medieval time but also the rapid industrial urbanisation time where directly outside the residential area there are peoples gardens with a very small barn or houselet.

The wounds look deep, I'm afraid, and torn viciously. A lot of internal hatred has stirred in the last several years, and many followers and members of both major parties have been full and complicent offenders and participants - very much a "it takes two to Tango," scenario. Such hatred and division is at it's worst since after the 1860's, and this election almost looked like it would be like 1824 and 1876 in turns of not being accepted by a great majority (it might still). Biden will have to steer a VERY course in things if he wants to unify, and not exacerbate the situation.
A lot of internal hatred has stirred in the last several years, and many followers and members of both major parties have been full and complicent offenders and participants - very much a "it takes two to Tango," scenario.
I can share some really pessimistic stories (from my parents) on that from the occupation period by the Nazi's in the Netherlands.

Friendship is easy to fix, but it's hard to get anything done in good faith if any election might result in electing a toddler who poops on treaties and accords that took a Herculean effort to implement in the first place.
You've obviously been wearing partisan blinders, like so very many. I haven't. I have seen very clearly the ugliness, hatred, venom, vitriol, bad stereotypes, and absolutist and binary, and other toxic thinking, that many supporters of BOTH major U.S. Parties have engaged in unrestrained of late. Yea I will not argue this, so how do we bring back a significant section of the populace who has fallen into clear despair back from the brink before its too late without turning into villains ourselves.
