keeping it real
I'd rather be a gay person here in St Pete than some white dude in Camden, NJLook, I benefit from privilege, but I think relatively little of that has to do with my being a white cis male, and a great deal of it has to do with my living in a place that does not suck.

Yeah identity politics works best when you're appealing to the majority. Trump proved that in 2016 and nearly did it again in 2020.95% of the population isn't LGBTQ, the majority is still white.
I forgot whether it was David Pakman or Kyle Kulinski who noted that liberal items on many state's ballots did exceptionally well (the ones that come to mind were increasing minimal wage & decriminalizing/legalizing drugs) but the candidates not so much. In other words liberalism is such a toxic brand for many Americans that even though they may agree w/ their policies they find it hard to stomach voting for a left candidate.
You can call such people ignorant but it doesn't change the responsibility of the democratic party to work on their brand to one that serves the working people and the needs of all as opposed to trying to be the wokest.
Liberals should focus on policies rather than trying to patronize various groups.
