I have 976, although I think I could fairly easily shave 100 of them off. I'm hesitant to do too much trimming though, since I sometimes use my FB account for recruiting work, and having access to more accounts is a professional bonus.

I really dont understand the FB hate. It's been a great way for me to stay connected with friends and family all over the globe, and it's helped me professionally as well. Plus, it makes wedding coordination (or other big social event planning) WAY easier.

I also think Facebook hate is silly. It does suck up a lot of time but less than CFC. And unlike CFC you can fully block out people you aren't interested in (whereas the ignore feature here doesn't work very well as you can still see they have posted).

523 right now, but about two dozen friend requests from people that I feel like I should know but can't figure out why. I'm hoping I'll figure out who they are and add them, but never do and the requests just sit there.

At least 10% of my friends are hidden from my news feed becasue I don't actually care at all about what they have to say. I only interact with maybe two dozen of the people I'm friends with, but it's great if I need to contact someone for a school project or get info out to a large number of people. I also use it to stay in touch with family members I don't see often.

I currently have 239 friends. I just searched for your earlier thread (you should probably link to it in the first post if you want all of us to make this comparison), and found that six months ago I had 244 friends. The last time I added a friend was on my birthday (Feb 1) last year, and I don't think I have dropped anyone since graduating college (although I have set certain people not to show up on my wall anymore). I guess that means that 5 people dropped me as a facebook friend since July.

I don't use facebook. Don't hate it or anything, but there's no compelling reason for me to use it.

The usual joke is that my friends will know I've committed to a girl when I finally get an account.

I'm moderately picky about accepting friendship request.. but rather than denying I tend to postpone responding to it. (I've got 17 open friend requests atm)
My account grows mostly after weekends when I've met new people in the club and then mostly girls :mischief:

I don't really get the anti-facebook people.
It's a really effective and communicative tool to use to remember friendly acquaintances that are of some important reference, it is good for continued communication with old friends and current friends. It's great for getting messages out and passing information to large groups of people. It's nice to be able to see what a friend is up to without having to invest too much time in them due to schedules and such. I use it daily for about an hour (non-consecutively) to just chat and get messages.

To a certain extent, it's a phonebook, text message, internet messaging, platform sharing, schedule book.

If anything, the practical value of Facebook for event-invitation is useful.

It is your choice to use it or not, but I can't see the downside of having an account that you just semi-regularly check on. It's mere minimum effort to go get one.

I have 301 friends. I message/chat/comment with about 70 at least once a month.

Through College/Uni my facebook use grew a lot. Post that life, I find myself strengthening the ties with those I care about as it is so simple to keep in contact, and weaking with those who i do not care about. I actively "prune" away those i care not to view photos of their new puppy/baby/car/pot plant

I only really "do" 2 internet thingies , here and Facebook . I definitely notice that being a smart ass will occasionally be appreciated , more often than not ignored here , which seems about right. But on FB it seems to be more of a no-no . There is a real "how dare you make fun of the fact I posted a picture of my morning tea donut !" mentality .

Handy hint....cause pictures of donuts isolated from any theme or even a point , suck ass .
