Amesjustin, did you come up with anything new for the mod since your last update ?
 
Sorry for the long pause....

My main creation as of late has been my now 10 week old daughter. Cute as hell but a time vampire :P

I have all the resources done and terrain done, and enough units to really get this going. I have decided to release a general Mod first (mapless), then the scenario with the Pacific map including the islands as described above, then hopefully a scenario with just Kaiju civs for those who want a pure monster melee.

I have a very early and basic mod I am balancing now. I still have to change the tech trees and pedia entries, and am just trying to get the resource placement and firepower a bit more balanced..

It is going very slow with big gaps of inactivity, but life has been VERY busy.... Modzilla may be slow but its not dead...
 
Yes, I saw her photo. Very cute, but I'm happy she's not mine. ;-)

Mapless mod ? I thought most Kaiju would be preplaced units (perhaps not always in their full power). How would it work ?
 
Human natives are the builders of the buildings in the Kaiju civ. They are the worshippers of monsters.

There will be human workers and very weak but cheap warriors. The other armies can mow them down quite easily. As the Kaiju civ discovers more resources (in the form of living dinosoars, Mothras egg, Rodan's egg, giant lobsters, radioactive waste, etc.) They build shrines based on what they find. These shrines auto-generate a kaiju or dino every set number of turns. Kaiju shrines are small wonders, while dino shrines are improvements, allowing more of these to be generated. There is a dino shrine for each dino type, and they only require access to the Living Dinosaurs resource.

Other civs can actually bio-engineer (build) dino units at end-game if they get their tech high enough, but they are very expensive, and the Kaiju civ has them from the start. No on but the Kaiju civ can generate the Kaijus.

To help keep them from getting wiped off early, the kaiju civ will start with a few dinos to help them survive long enough to get access to the resources they need.

More details to come - I don't want to give away too many surprises or promise something that is still being tested/tweaked/ironed out....
 
I see. I thought some Kaiju at least wouldn't pop at all and would be preplaced. Perhaps for one map version. :-)

I've made Ebirah's attackA with the possibility to give him 1 range bombard ability so he could attack coastal cities.
 
Yes, I foresee a battle-based mapped version (called Tokyo Stomp?) containing just Japan and Monster Island, where the Kaiju are not buildable and slightly heavily powered... One could play as either Kaiju or Japan only...

By the way, Ebirah now joins Gamera, Rodan, and Mothra (and maybe Ghidora and Megalodon) and as the only units capable of Kaiju transports. Other, more common units (native boats, Pteranadons, Great Whites) can only transport more common, smaller units.

Ebirah, like all or most Kaiju, will have lethal bombardment on land and sea, as well as bombard and a strong air defense.
 
Side note -

I already had an Ebirah resource for the mod. Since it is aquatic, it is a sea bonus resource only available to the Kaiju civ, with a massive food bonus.

I'll still keep it in that role for the mod, but the mapped scenario I'll stick it on the coast of Monster Island, as a resource needed to build the Sacrificial Altar of Ebirah Wonder, which will generate the tasty sea beast every 100 turns or so. Like all Kaiju resources, it will have a negative food bonus in this version.

I now have a picture in my head of Gamera, Ebirah, Megalodon, and a school of Great Whites swarming the Japanese Navy.....:devil:

i thinkthose cartoon girls in your sig would be good advisors for your monster mod, since they are japanese and so are the moveis

If you only did one more Japanese movie monster I think it should be mecha godzilla, he was great
 
The Tuna Bomber > Well, they're not really the same style as Godzilla movies, are they ?

I'd like to make Mecha-G but I don't have any model for it and I think it would be better in POV-ray or something like that. Get Orthanc on it. ;-)
 
SoG > I started an Anguirus a while back, I've still have to finish it. If I remember correctly, I've still got run, fidget and death to animate. You can see it in the Godzilla request thread (link in the op).

Rodan is not in my top-priority list because Amesjustin could use the Pteranodon unit right now but if I get the occasion or the pulse, I'll do it. I liked Rodan, the movie.
