Punic Wars Unit Pack

Great units Kinboat!
Wow... I don't even remember doing these. :mischief:

I think you mean Dom Pedro II... I have been thinking of doing a woolly mammoth but he'd have to wait until I wrap up some other things.

Ok DP, I come up with pics of some Carthaginians Units for my next Mod (note the carthaginian unit line is not complete here)

Mounted units

On the Cavs pic, you can clearly see how the Numidian is handling his Javelin. ;)

Foot units

btw, we're still missing the Punic & Lybian Javelin Thrower and the much needed Iberic Infantery :mischief:

interestinglyl enough- every single one of the white tunic guys, with the purple stripe is actually a historic Iberian trooper- even the tunic of that fashion is recorded as being the style that the Iberian wore

DP II,

The Numidian Cavalry, almost down to the last detail, is what I thought we were getting when C3C was talking about Numidian Mercenaries (well, as soon as he is able to throw a javelin).

Thanks for this whole packet. You unit makers are making the life of the average no-talent modder about 1000 percent better.

The round shield cavalry and the Iberian Infantry are the only ones on that list that really look interesting that haven't been made. I don't really like their Numidian Horse all that much, though.

Dom Pedro,
so sorry to bring up a question on your units in this package. But when I saw that fantastic elephant units I recall you once had ideas on making a whole string of Elephant units. Even an Elephant Cataphract, that I read about just recently.
How is the status on all these fine described units.
What I remember beside these two units are Mughal War Elephant , Generic Cataphract Elephant , Chinese War Elephant and then some....

I do love these fine little "packs" that fill in many holes in ancient warfare.

The elephants are really long-term stuff. I haven't really been working on them at the moment. I'm currently finishing up a unit I need for my mod, and then I'm finishing up the Aztec Rifleman followed by a Khmer Phak'ak man.

Here is a simple mix of stock sounds for use with the Balearic Slinger unit. Nothing fancy or original, just a mixture of appropriate in-game sounds, .amb and .ini files included.

Hope ya all have some use for these! :)

Now a question for Dom: Are there any plans to scale this unit down to in-stock standards? This humble Slinger is a veritable giant among his fellow warriors.

LBPB, thanks for the chart - & thanks to Dom for the great units, I've been
using them for at least a month now.

Since first hearing Allen Ginsberg's 'Howl' Carthage has long intrigued me, as
one of the great, forgotten civilizations. And they almost walluped
Rome.

I'd love to see that Punic Infantry done. Just like everyone was imitating the Greek Phalanx formation until Rome crushed it, and then everyone was mimicing the Roman Legions(Well, everyone who hadn't been conquered by the Romans..hehe), I believe they called those units "Immitator Legions" if I'm corect(because they were lol) it would be nice to see this represented in any of the Rome mods. Maybe Bebro could do it, seeing as hes so good at Legion-making

PS: Sorry If I sound alittle...er, Xen-ish, but Pink's mod is almost out...

*ahem* I havent been requesting Roman units for quite a while (I'm still waiting on those god-damn Iberians, Dom PedroII!) everyoen else has been very persisitent in getting what few spots remain filled in, or at least trying. I suppose my noisy, and unrelenting support combined with a nack for finding/makign artwork to represent the basics of my idea woudl help that front, but I want to make an Avernum mod/scenario, because its a truelly untouched subject in these hallow halls of creation, and so i can leave soem sort of a unique mark on the community aside form being the primary driving force behind the fleshing out for the Roman civilizations units (a title i'm happy to hold anyway mind you, but still, i want to make a more direct contribution)

so most of my energy of persuasion is going to that front.

We still need a Roman Grenadier, and maybe a Roman Rifleman as well, then the Roman civ will be flavor complete. That will make Rome the second civ to be totally finished, after the Japanese.

? You mean Italian units, right? Otherwise it would be just fantasy...
